Gibson's new movie is a sort of a "Four Feathers" movie, conscientious objector becomes war hero, but based on a true story. Check it out. http://blog.xbradtc.com/2016/07/dont-screw-this-up-mel.html

With a few exceptions (the Aztec thing and the gory Christ thing), I love Mels movies. Too bad he's become nutty as a fruitcake.

Yep maybe the part he played in the first "Lethal Weapon" movie wasn't so far from the truth!

Yeah, too bad he's not a normal person like Sean Penn, Danny Glover, Barbra Streisand, Jane Fonda, Alec Baldwin or Martin Sheen.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Looks damn good. I don't go to the movies much anymore but I will be inline to see this one.

Also, Clint Eastwood talking to an empty chair[I wonder who thought that one up?] Charlie Sheen with his drugs and "Winning". Etc.etc.etc.ad infinitum. I wonder if it's something in the water they give them?

Eastwood said he did.
Never seen a bad Eastwood or Gibson movie.

Well if Eastwood thought that up he should stick to making movies. I too haven't seen a bad movie with either of them although I didn't see"The bridges of Madison county"[not my style]and they did one too many "Lethal weapons" IMO.

Those are the best two movies he ever made. His other movies except the mad max stuff was absolute garbage. Lethal weapon sucked major arse.

I agree. Apocalypto was an excellent movie, I think it was about Mayans though. The Passion of The Christ was very difficult to watch. I liked Braveheart as well, although I'm not sure it did Scottish/English relations any good.

I think he's pretty normal compared to Roman Polanski and Woody Allen.

The Scots I know found Mel Gibsons accent in "Braveheart" laughable, but I thought it was one of his best movies. I also think "The Patriot" was excellent. I read a book on the real "Air America" guys and they reckoned that movie was crap, although a good fun flick

Well, as they say, Paul: "Never get your History from movies", 'cause there's sure to more than a little "artistic license" applied to 'em.
Most Hollywood biopics being good examples of this.
(...ever watched William Bendix as Babe Ruth in THAT one?!...Whew, what a crock THAT one was!)

What the hell are you saying Dwight?! Next you'll be telling me the car in Braveheart (bottom left) wasn't actually William Wallace's

Your right Dwight. Wallace for instance, https://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&r...q0eDuidoU7SA5ZgI didn't see W.Bendix in Babe Ruth [I've never watched a baseball movie ]but we know how much "artistic licence" is applied to so many things.

Ok so braveheart was a bunch of hollyweird fantasy, but that don't mean all his movies are just made up.....I mean come on water world had to be true. I mean that's a real life depiction of actual events that really happened.

Yeah Water world had to be true. You just couldn't make that stuff up could you? It was Kevin Costner. His Robin Hood was true to life too wasn't it?At least there WAS a Robin Hood. The similarity seemed to end there though I think.

Yeah, well, everybody knows the best Robin Hood EVER was played by a countryman of yours, Paul.

I thought you meant Russell Crowe, but He's a Kiwi, adopted Aussie. We're good like that. We claim them as "our own" when they do good. When they do bad they're classed as "The New Zealand born",or "The British born" etc. The Bee Gees for instance were never classed as "the British born Bee Gees" No Sir! they were "our Bee Gees" Actually I thought "Our Russells" version pretty good. One of the best! Then of course there was "Men in tights"

I was making fun of character types. The kind of almost half crazed anti-hero and play in the level of reality of the acting and cinematography, well, and story line. It was a kind of a dismissive statement about hollyweird and the lack of creativity in story and characters.
Sorry, it was funny in my twisted estimation.
