It will be an 11 hour ride just to get there. But the more think about it the more I want to go!

Mike is not local, so likely not leading a ride!
For those so inclined, there is camping about 1/2 mile from Peaks of Otter Lodge {POOL}, and more camping at Mile Post 60.5 (26 miles from POOL)
NO GAS ON BRP!
Nearest Gas is:
About 5 miles south of Peaks of Otter on rte 43. Independent station with 87, 89 & (92 non-ethanol)
From south, several stations in Bedford, some close to Super8 & Days Inn. (About 15 miles from POOL)
From northwest (Buchanan) there is an Exxon at Rte 43 & U.S.11 (About 10 miles from POOL - all ethanol)
Coming on BRP from north, there is an Exxon 1/2 mile off BRP MP 64 (U.S.501)turn right after exit toward Big Island VA) (23 miles from POOL - all ethanol)
The ride may be fun, but in the Great Scheme of things, it really is about the destination! John 3:16

It is during a nice time of year for me to ride. I have also been thinking about getting a jacket from Fox Creek Leathers and it is only 2 hours from the rally point. 9 to 10 hour ride for me to get there. Thinking of heading down Tuesday, going to Fox Creek on Wednesday. Waiting for the wife to give me her blessings. Bob you seem to be Very informed. Tell me more and welcome.

The Blue Ridge Parkway is some of the best riding in the country and near the top in the East! Smooth, curvy roads and no commercial traffic is allowed. For the Friday ride, we'll have the BRP practically to ourselves. We'll head down to Mabry Mill (Milepost 176). (If we did that Saturday, we'd wait 90 minuted to get a table) For the Saturday ride, we'll head to the beginning of the BRP (Milepost 0) and go the Devil's Backbone for lunch and take a different route back. The Peaks of Otter Lodge's (PoOL) discount and room block has ended, but discounts should still be available at Super 8 and Day's Inn in Bedford VA. Not nearly as nice or convenient, but much less expensive. Plan ahead! There is NO GAS available on the BRP.
The ride may be fun, but in the Great Scheme of things, it really is about the destination! John 3:16

I think it's the nicest jacket I've ever owned.

This, being the first of what will hopefully be an annual event was a GREAT time! I hope everyone else enjoyed it as much as I did. Putting a face and pleasant personality with a forum user name makes the forums even more meaningful. Though there were only nine of us each day, there were a total of five states represented, with RAT member "Denny" riding over 500 miles to get here from Indianapolis. He also had the oldest bike in attendance with a gorgeous '98 TBS. "Tugboat" came with a '14 America over 200 miles from Tennessee, and Gary (GMan - Triumph Tiger 1050 forum) came over 250 miles from PA.
I get to ride these roads as much as I like, living just 10 miles from our starting point, but it was a wonderful time meeting fellow Trumpeteers. We outnumbered the HD's wherever we went, and around here that's a very rare occurrence (...NEVER).
In the end, Bonnevilles won the day. 1-T-Bird Storm 1-T-Bird 1600 1-Rocket III 1-Tiger 1050 2-T-Bird 900's 2-Americas 4-Bonnevilles ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Friday brought 9 riders from 4 states; VA, NC, TN, IN.
BRBBR#1 Charter Members
A ride 90 miles down BRP to Mabry Mill found 5 more R3's from Mayberry Days event, and to our pleasant surprise, after lunch we saw 2 vintage Bonnevilles and a BSA! About 220 miles for the day.
Triumph's FINALLY had HDs outnumbered!!!

Bob, here are the other pictures posted on the thunderbird1600.com site: "at Devil's Backbone Brewery, Nellysford VA. L-R = Rich, Dan, Gary, Nikki, Kirby, Bob, Denny, Bobby (Dan, Gary and Rachel (taking pic) joined us for Saturday only, but we lost Pat, Bill & John.) " "1st pic at welcome center BRP (about Milepost 5)" "Denny from Indianapolis rode farthest to arrive (over 500 miles), had the oldest bike (1998 TBS) and the most vintage birthdate!" "...the lineup of Triumphs at Lover's Leap overlook, Meadows of Dan, VA; one of the best overlooks in the region."

Put it on the schedule guys. Blue Ridge British Bike Rally II will be Fri 9/22/17- Sat 9/23/17 I'll get with hotels soon to coordinate discounts, etc. Hoping for a great turnout in some of the best riding in the East!
