I'm thinking the first weekend in October 6th-9th in Eureka Springs again. Check your schedules.

What about the next one Oct. 13th-16th? Some guys have a better chance of making it towards the first part of the month.

I can do either weekend before or after that. Just have a large round number HS class reunion that weekend. Want to see how some of those old codgers turned out.

Just my two cents. The ARK rally has always been my favorite, even though I've only been able to attend twice. Good bunch of guys and a nice ride. But any date towards the end of Oct. is asking for miserable weather. The first or second week is always gonna be a better gamble. Still two early to know if I can go this year and the wife's health is not good. But I reccomend the ride to any newbies on here!

I just picked Eureka again Someone mentioned Hot Springs. The dates will be Oct. 13-16th.

Hot Springs or Eureka Springs?
single choice

dude, I can only think of 5 Arkansas Rallies since 2007 that have had rain. '07, '08, '09, last year, and the year in Mountain Home. it's like a free bike wash!

What an optimist! ONLY 5 rainy rallys! But like the old saying goes, "the worst ride on the bike is still better than the best day at work"!

UPDATE: The Rider's rest only has a few rooms available on Oct. 13-16th. We could do the weekend after 20-23rd or I could find another motel. I was looking at the Trails Inn. I think it is near that Italian rest. we ate at once and pretty close to a liquor store. (which I know is important to many of you lol). http://www.thetrailsinn.com/ It looks pretty nice but it is $245 for 3 days for a queen double room. Comes to about $80 a day. Quite a bit more than the riders rest. Up too you guys.

The 13th - 16th is War Eagle Craft fair along with about 400 other craft fairs up here that weekend. Will have problems finding rooms anywhere north of Clarksville. The roads will be crowded with craft shoppers. Also there are Razorback football games in Fayetteville on the 8th and 15th. That will jack up the traffic a bunch too.

Not too bad for a double bed room, a little over 40 a night if you share. I would prefer to stick with the 13-16th, but I guess I could do that next weekend as well. Might be a little colder, but nothing we haven't faced before. That's what a fall rally is all about! I'm keeping the facebook page updated so the guys that don't log on here much can still be in the loop

If we can't find rooms in Eureka Springs we could always move the Rally to Hot Springs.
We stayed here a few years back http://shadyoaktrailgetaway.com/
Up to you guys though was just putting that suggestion out there.

That's the place we stayed when Dave and Co. "rescued" my boy and I after we flew in late and hot. There's NO WAY we would have found that place in the dark. Left, left, right, left, right, right....nice place though.

I'm sure one of the planned rides will include Scenic 7. Be careful riding this hwy. This past May, I hit a wild hog and it tore up the front of the car. It happened so quickly that it couldn't be avoided. Also, cell reception is spotty at best. So keep in mind, you'll be out in the boonies and help can be far away.

Didn't buy into the hype, you can keep the change.

So is that what you all want to do? Keep the 13th-16th dates and see if the cabins are available in Hot Springs? Let me know I have to call Anne at Rider's rest. I told her to pencil us in for the 20th-23rd.

We could do the 13th - 16th and stay in Clarksville, Ozark or Russellville. Would be able to do some of the same roads from the other direction. I don't have much experience with the hotels in those towns but should be able to find something in the area at a decent price.

Okay I called Anne again and she has 3 rooms and the cabin available for the 13-16th of October at the Riders Rest. (479) 253-9815. That should be enough for us since most are going to double up and there are only 7 of us that have committed. Troy you usually get a single. Could you do the cabin? It has a queen bed and a kitchen. Let me know I am calling her back tonight or tomorrow and use my credit card to reserve the rooms. The over flow motel will be the Trails Inn 1-800-962-4691 for those who are coming but have not chimed in. But as Troy said Eureka will be crowded that weekend so get your reservations in early.

I got my room reserved, now I'll have to talk to Chris. I'm sure he's coming though. Might bring another friend of mine, and I'm trying to get Scott (kaisersoze) to commit

Well hell... your friend and Scott are going to have to go to the Trails Inn, which by the way is probably nicer than the RR. Don't tell Anne I said that. She's the one that told me it was nice.

Have been looking at a ride for Friday that goes into MO to avoid some of the craft fair traffic. Covers a road (i think this is the right road!) that Donnie wanted to run last year. Could eat breakfast at Wesners Grill in Rogers but am not familiar enough with restaurants up in the Branson area to know where to eat lunch.

I imagine we could find a good place to eat in Branson if we tried.

Was trying to stay in the outskirts rather than getting into the full blown madness that is Branson weekend traffic! But we should be able to find something.

Well we could pack a picnic lunch since you will have a cabin with a kitchen and everything. Donny has those rubber saddlebags on his Tiger we could ice up.

What about this for Saturday? A bit of reverse on 16 from last year plus 123. about 270 miles. Breakfast at Granny's lunch at Oark General Store again unless someone has a better idea.

Gasoline would be a bit of an issue with this run. Fill up with the good stuff in Huntsville then take what we can get in Deer or along Hwy 7 and Sand Gap. Refill in Clarksville then might have to refill in Marble or Berryville.

I like it. The roads around Oark were good. We had never been there before last year.
