I note that some on the forum have named their bikes. Most seem to be feminine in nature. I guess everyone refers to their Triumphs as "her" simply cause they need to be pampered and spoiled. But then again not all girls need to be spoiled.

If you have a name for your America/Speedmaster....what might it be?

I am looking for a nice Irish name with the lineage of a classic Irish hero....but most are masculine names....

Hmmm. I like the sound of "Strongbow"

Well, at first, I was going to call mine "Brent's Retirement Fund", but it does roll off the tounge smoothly, so I will have to come up with something else.

You know, I've had my bike for three years and it still doesn't have a name. On those rare occasions that I find myself giving it a gender, I always use "she." But apart from that, she remains nameless and I suspect will always be so

I don't tend to be that anthropomorphic.. However, I did call my previous truck "Beastie" on occasion, more so due to it's deteriorating condition however, than any admiration I may have had for it.

Cheers,
Brad

I don't have a name for my bike yet. I usually call it "My Baby" or "The Bike".

Maybe Britney or Amy. I'll have to think about this one.

Soren that's going to get confusing if we are both calling the bike "The". Kinda catchy ain't it?

LMAO..."The" and "Bike"...c'mon guys, you can do better than that! these bikes are ladies...no doubt in my mind...although having said that, I suspect that some of the female riders may consider their steed to be male....that's cool, I can dig it...but speaking for myself, then, mine is Beauty...I tell people who ask (and some really do!) "one of us is the Beauty and one of us is the Beast...I live it to you to decide which is which" ...funny, I nearly always get Beast...???? go figure, eh?

oh, and just a follow-up to my last post...those of you who mentioned your 4 wheel rides...of course you don't give them names! you can't love a freakin' car or truck...it's an inanimate object...not like a bike...geez, eh...

Never thought to give the bike a name. Oops, looks like I've just done it. I don't think of "the bike" in terms of gender. But if I had to, I think it would be male.

Not necessarily. Queen Mebd (say 'Maive') was one person you wouldn't want to do battle with.
Scathac was a female martial arts teacher. One of her more famous students was CuChulainne. But then, she was Scotts. Celtic people, the Irish and Scotts especially used to do battle with invaders with men, women, and older children all fighting naked except for blue body paint. At least historians said it was paint, could have just been the normal cold weather.

Kevin,

I have few suggestions,

Seeing as how you ride a black America, there the Celtic name meaning one who is a dark-haired beauty. But for some reason I kind'a doubt you'll like it. It's....KERRY.(true...I kid you not)

Now, as an alternate you may consider the name, SIOBHAN(shuh-VAHN), from the Celtic meaning, gracious.(I always kind'a liked the sound of that name for a lady)

Actually, if you Google:Irish Names, you'll find a pretty cool website that has a whole long list of ideas for your consideration.

Cheers,
Dwight

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Yup. Cu Chulainne is the BIG DOG of old Irish history.

"Kerry" that'd pretty much be out of order for me Dwight but I do appreciate the humor in that.

Mustang Sally,
Guess you better slow your Mustang down.
Mustang Sally, my baby,
Guess you better slow your Mustang down.
You been a runnin' all over the town now,
Guess I'll have to put your flat feet on the ground.

All you wanna do is a ride around, Sally (RIDE SALLY RIDE)

Since I'm recently (1+ year) divorced the idea of giving it a female name just doesn't work for me. I've never been into naming any of my vehicles except by their given names anyhow. So, unfortunately I too usually go with:

"The Bike"
or
"The Triumph"

Lately I've been trying out "The AmericaMaster" (my America has Speedmaster wheels, front fender and bars), the guys at the dealership seem to like it - what do you think?

Don't name my bikes and never did... just always seemed somewhat wierd to me. However, the wife calls it the pickle.
Guess she just kinda likes Arlo and his motorsickle song, hehe.

Mine's called Florence. Don't ask why, she just is.

However a theme started after that, the courtesy SM was called Dougal (it was yellow) and the courtesy Bonnie - Dylan. I even told the dealer of the names. And worte them on the tags...

My learner bike is called Doris.

Gina 03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel... 06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel... 09 America - It's very blue....

And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson

Mary Robinson (Máire Bhean Mhic Róibín); born 21 May 1944, was the first female President of Ireland, serving from 1990 to 1997.

Nah I can't change Doris' name. If I'm gonna be truthful, it's Probably Doris.

When I bought her, the dealer said "what's it going to be called", and I replied "Probably Doris"...

I talk about Doris and my mates know exactly what I'm talking about too...

My 250 Triumphs name is Tempermental ****** cause everytime I would try to start her she would when she wanted or I had to call Jeff. Got it on the tank. Several people said I should use that name on the new one and I told them this is not Tempermental.

OK Moe, no fair trying to pass out the name of my bike. Somehow I have ended up calling her Mrs. Robinson. Though I would have to say more in the older lady, seductress sense than any ruling type of woman. Somehow this all occurred after I had dropped her doing about 60, had her repaired at the shop and on return she fell on my ankle and yet I still can't resist her. Buying her a pretty new paint job and numerous other shiny things. A few performance upgrades here and there. you all know how it goes. I don't know if the bourbon I was drinking the night I was having a little talk with her about the rejections (read: mishaps) I had suffered had anything to do with it. The bourbon had NOTHING to do with it. I'm sure! I mean I hadn't even seen "The Graduate" recently when the naming came about. Though I did coincidentally see it the following week.
