Bonneville America Forums Forums Technical Forums Exhaust Exhaust Tips?

Has anyone ever installed exhaust tips on a motorcycle? I bought a set of DBA mufflers, they sound good but I am not crazy about the looks of straight cut pipes. I have seen some exhaust tips on the internet but have not seen them close up. The pipes are 3" and I would think that as long as the tips were 3" I should be able to make them work. I would think that they should just slip inside my pipes and just install a screw or bolt. Sound right? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Ron

just a thought, but how about just cutting the ends to a slash cut style? dinqua has cut ends before so i think he could offer advice on how.

I have currently Staintunes, I don't like the sound so have just slash cut the originals, with a fine tooth band saw, excellent job just had to clean off a couple of sharp spots with a fine file.

They can work. Try to get some that goes on the outside of the pipe though. That way you don't get carbon streaks on the tip.

In days past, it was common for silencers to be built up with both ends fitted over the center core and brazed in place, so the look would be authentic.
