Well... I had a little mishap last weekend and my bags (left side only) looks like Wolverine decided to take some aggression out on it.
Body shop quoted me about as much as a new set would cost so now Im debating a few options and am wondering if anyone has input to share on any of the options?

Option 1 - get the bags coated with LineX (for those not familiar its bed liner). If I did this it would be a temp solution until I bought a new set of bags.

Option 2 - replace with the ABS bags. Mostly the same as the fiberglass but the hing portion is a little shorter. No real reason other than passenger leg room...which I don't really care about as I always ride solo.

I guess what Im really curious about is if anyone has a set of the ABS bags? Any feedback?

Anyone ever get the quick release bags? Any feedback? Pics of them mounted?

If ABS bags were an option when I bought mine in 2008 that's what I would have selected.

I put on the ABS bags last year, I'm very happy with them. Much nicer than I expected.

Do you have pics? I'd love to see the lines of those bags on the bike and maybe the brackets they now use.

Same question for you Z...do you have pics of the extent of the damage... & did you have the Tsukayu bag guards in place?

..Go to the Tsukaya site, they have pics of their products on America's and Speedmasters. It's all right there if you look hard enough. The brackets are strong with great looking Chrome finish.

Luckily the bag took the brunt of the damage. I lost a Kuryakyn grip and a foot peg as well but had spares in the garage.

Bummer. One more thing you might try, take it to a fiberglass boat repair shop & see what they quote you for the repair.

I think the boat repair shop is a great idea.

In some circles that may be concidered artistic.

Her is something written on a Rocket3 web site about ordering direct from Tsukayu for what it is worth. http://www.r3owners.net/threads/warning-tsukayu-fairing-trunks-saddlebags.14333/

a buddy of mine got the ABS bags for his R3 and has not been happy with them. Too weak, soon after installing them the backs started to crack and he had to reinforce them with plywood. Also added a tube between the bags stiffen them up. they look good, but not a strong as the fiberglass one I have on the t-bird.
