An although a 2.5 mini-speedo fits the hole there is very little depth behind the console. Means there is no where for a cable to exit and even a 2.5 digital speedo needs to be mounted sloping forward by adding a bezel.

You can put a digital Speedo or a combo Speedo/Tach in the tank console.

There is no need for a speedometer cable with a digital speedo option. You have the option of using your stock cable of course. Or you can swap out the cable for a magnetic bolt. Which is just a wire (No cable).

I'm not sure what Martin62 mean by saying that the gauge needs to be tilted forward.

Mine is just set in it's whole with no bezel tilting it forward.

This is what I have.

It is wired up with a magnetic bolt.

The Dakota Digital gauge is a little bigger than the stock whole.

I cut half the face off of my tank console and fabricated a new face so that I could drill a new whole and get rid of the idiot lights. The combo gauge I have has all the idiot lights built in.
