Just got a new Rk chain from Eddy and have a question. It came with a lot of white protective grease smeared all over it that I'm assuming is to keep it from rusting. I live on a dirt road and that stuff will attract and hold every bit of dirt that flies up off the road. What's the best thing to use to remove it before installing the chain?

'06 America, Raask foot controls, the bike use to be Graphite and Silver, now its Red and Black.

I wouldn't use any kind of a solvent, you sure do not want to rinse out or dilute the lubricant sealed behind the o-rings. Plain old clean rags cut in strips for the inner recesses would be my first choice. I am forced to travel dirt roads as well to get places, and I keep the exterior of my chains and sprockets as clean and dry as possible. I do use a bake on, Teflon/Moly web page coating from Brownells on my sprockets when new.

Hey Bruce I just cleaned mine with DuPont Chain Cleaner followed with DuPont Chain Saver. Seems to do a good job. Liked the Chain Saver. Did not dry tacky. Not sure if it is any good, but it did the job.
