A number of years ago I toasted the stock Speedometer/Odometer while crossing the Mojave Desert. I purchased a stock replacement off Ebay shortly after returning home. The problem is that the replacement speedometer/odometer doesn't read the actual miles I have on my 07 BA.

I've though about getting a 2nd speedo cable and connecting it to the speedometer & a variable speed drill and running the miles up that way. However since my BA has 25898 miles on it now, & the odometer only shows 6363 miles that method may take a bit longer that I would like.

Does anyone know how I can correct/adjust the odometer to reflect actual miles?

Any old school used car lot salesman should be able to help you.

If you're very careful you can take it apart and manually spin the numbers to where you want them.

I appreciate you wanting to do this for the RIGHT reason, but the letter of the law will still say NO tampering with the speedometer. If it was me, I'd just tell the next person what the deal was.

I agree. Telling a buyer the truth about the odometer discrepancy shows your transparency on any other issues. I sold a Ford with 1.3 million on it, but the odometer read 650,000. I had changed it out with a new one earlier.

Google "Foreign Speedo Repair". These guys are in San Diego and do great work.
You can send it to them, they'll R & R the unit and set the odometer at your desired mileage.
I believe the cost is around $85.00

It's not speeding till you get pulled over.

Thanks Guys, I TOTALLY want to do this for the right reasons (actual miles vs. whats on the odometer). As things are now I have a little sticker fixed to the speedometer bezel that has the mileage recorded from the old speedometer when I changed them out. My concern is that if that sticker should come off, I'd lose any record of actual miles. For the sake of regular scheduled maintenance I really would like to get the odometer corrected. Don't plan on selling ol' Cinnamon Girl anytime soon, so a "buyer" issue is not my concern....but if I were to sell the ol' Girl...what would prevent the hypothetical "buyer" from removing the mileage sticker and re-selling to some poor bloke who wouldn't know the difference?

I am waiting for a suitably small enough satellite speedo to hit the marketplace, while we are on the subject. The heck with cables, sensors and magnets.

I'm no fan of modern gadjets and computer whimmos but it was kind of cool watching what my el cheapo Garmin would do and keep track of. The biggest problem with gizmos like the Garmin is that it can be real distracting. Instead of checking out the scenery, you find yourself checking the miles ridden, speed, location, direction, etc.

All I need to know is how fast I'm really going, I like being lost, so I don't need a nav system.

I kinda prefer the analog speedo too. A couple of years back on my trip to CA. I used a speedometer/GPS app on my IPhone to guage my speed (the trip that toasted the orginal speedo while crossing the Mojave) on the road back home. Crossing the Texas panhandle the Iphone dispaly temporarily died from the heat (from broad sunlight & 95-100 deg temps). So when it comes to "satellite" or GPS outright replacement gadgets, I'll pass (seems any would be prone to similar failure from weather & etc.). Anyhoo, my issue is not with gauging my speed, but with logging miles on the odometer & getting it re-set to show the actual miles on the bike.
