It's the middle of January, temp in the upper 50s, not a cloud in the sky. After lunch I hopped on Blue and got 100 miles in. Life is good!

Yeah, sure, I'm jealous. But I will state that here in SE Iowa, I've done quite a few 100 mile loops in December, and one last week in Jan. In 50 degree days. Fleeting for sure, but still there! AND, it never strayed CLOSE to 100 degrees all summer!

I will admit that it does get hot as **** in July and August. But we have learned to put our Big Boy pants on and just sweat our *** off. I have found that if you keep a bottle of water with you and pour it down your jacket, it's like having A/C for 30 min.

Here in PA we put our big boy pants on and weather the cold. I am still driving with my window down during the day. We are still having highs in the 30s and 40s. It's not even cold here yet. We are having an ElNino (sp?) winter this year.

I have lived here my whole life and winter has always driven me nuts. I don't mind the cold, and we really don't get much of it, but it changes so quickly. It was in the 30s and 40s all last week. Been gorgeous this weekend and will hit 70 by the end of the week. Just give me one or the other but mAke up its mind.

Yeah, I'm with you there. If I had to choose between really hot and really cold, I'd take hot. If it wasn't for the deep roots, I'd sure consider moving somewhere more south. But only cause I'm crazy for riding. I did 35 K on the Indian since June of 14, and some of those miles were WINTER miles. I'm always wondering what the "perfect" state is for riding year round. And DON'T say California. Too many nutty people and the "BIG ONE" is probably right around the corner! Any opinions on the perfect state for riding year round (or at least, the most months) from youse guys?

Wow Rich. Gotta say I'm somewhat shocked that you've apparently brought into that nutty "Heartland" notion that California has some kind'a greater percentage of "nutty people" than any OTHER location in this country of ours.

Nope, PERCENTAGE-wise that is NOT the case! However, what IS the case is that there are now too many people in the Golden State, PERIOD!!!

And thus, the very reason after I retired I NOW reside in the PERFECT location(not to mention the absolute BEAUTY of Sedona) for all year riding...the HIGH desert of NORTHERN Arizona! And with the BEST twisty mountain roads to tackle on a motorcycle you'd ever want around here and all within minutes of my house. Got those around YOUR next of the woods?

(...and for the uninitiated here, Arizona is a HELL of a lot more than just the LOW desert and subsequent high Summer temps of that big sprawling concrete mess known as Phoenix...and which reminds me of L.A. but withOUT a beach AND with the "weather thermostat" cranked up another 20 freakin' degrees during the Summer months...nope, you couldn't PAY me enough to live there!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
