By "light", I mean I'm not going to give out any major plot devices or spoilers. So....Ho Hummmmmmm.....it was ok. Just, ok. A lot of "borrowing" scenes from the previous episodes, and just a lot of borrowing in general. I didn't see anything even approaching "originality". It seems that Disney wanted to just "play it safe", relying on retreaded ideas, props and plenty of explosians. I suppose I'm just a sexist b******d when I say that I'm not happy with the main character being a girl. More "women empowerment" crap coming from hollywood. I'm surprised there wasn't a "gay" character. I sure hope this movie is just the "setup" for some good story telling in the next two installments!

Some dweebs live that stuff like it's some sorta reality, 30 something and living in mom's basement with the Xbox 360 and speaking Klingon and waving light sabers around like morons.

Unfortunately we'll all be dead when Hollywood remakes all of these, because that's what Hollywood does. For our great grandchildrens' benefit I hope they do them sequentially.

Has anyone here ever watched these sequentially on DVD, do they make sense?

Saw it today, all the right loose ends for another sequel. I will say this, if I would have had to wait in line for 5 minutes, I would have felt like a chump.

I think I watched one or two of the old ones but I have no desire to see the new one.

I watched it this weekend. I liked it
There were some references to the first trilogy and with some of those characters (is the Millennium Falcon a character?) on screen, it was OK.
Yes, it was a set up for the next Star Wars movie.

SOME references?!!! Same introductions scene (giant looming space cruiser, same desert planet-different name, same fighters (X-wings and Tie fighters) same band cantina scene, same death star only bigger, same way to destroy it, mostly the same assistant bad guy with heavy breathing behind a mask, etc, etc, etc. The previous six installments had many inovative scenes and even some very poignent plotting. This last one was "disney light", with hardly a single original idea.
