Well, they CLAIMED to have flown, but the press never VERIFIED the "attempt", so it might not have HAPPENED! Ya gotta be CAREFUL about stuff like this. Next thing ya know there are gonna be claims that a real man MADE IT TO THE MOON AND WALKED ON IT! Or even further, GLOBAL WARMING IS HAPPENING! Sheesh, ya gotta be careful about wild, scientific exagerations!

History moves fast, My Grandmother lived from the horse and buggy era to space flight in her life time. Not that she rode in a space ship, she just saw it on TV.

My comment? Just look what the Wright Bros. new hobby of flying caused. ( post link here of Blue Angels during fleet week flying on the deck in SF Bay) Couldn't find it, but I thought you posted it years ago.

Anyhow, its a well known fact( maybe) that our very own in Blighty Sir Hiram Maxim(inventor if the eponymous gun) flew a steam powered aircraft earlier...only it remained tethered to a rail on the ground.
He then claimed that since he'd achieved powered flight he'd leave it to others to develop the idea.
Me, I think he just scared himself....Ive seen the remains of the rail and it got mangled.
