Guys & Gals I have sinned! I went down to my local Triumph dealer today & I now have a brand new Rocket! which I pick up next Saturday Can I still come on the forum? I don't know what happened, one minute I was on a Speedmaster, the next I was testing a rocket & he gave me £4000 part ex on a new rocket & I only paid £5250 for the speedie 2 years ago! Please say I can stil play in your garden It is a Triumph & it is a cruiser!! P.S I can't stop grinning!!!

SURE you can, Martyn!
Now...if I were you, I'd check out that new OTHER website(www.rocket3.com) right away. But I hear those fellas over there are a pretty quiet and secretive bunch.
Cheers, Dwight (what day is it today?)

It's O.K. Martyn, I too, have been dealing with the same temptation for a while now (ever since I test rode one last fall) . It's only a matter of time 'til I succumb to the irresitable draw of all that torque.

At least you will now be able to (just) keep up with Adey & me on the fast blue America's (if he still rides his!)
Congrats on your new ride! Come on, tell us what colour it is, does it have the blacked out engine, off road pipes etc!

Hey Shaun, it's the grey one ...
Lovely looking bike. I hope Martyn gets the off-road pirpes - they sound great!
I'm not telling him about the tyre life though ... I doubt he'll be doing many baltic trips
Truth be told, if, 6 months ago, I had got a more favourable responce from my insurers, it would be a Rocket parked next to the America right now, not a Scrambler ..

Hi Nobby It's the Graphite colour, with the silver engine & chrome camcovers, 2005 model. Looks better with the silver engine in that colour. I promise I won't go to fast when we go out! but I can't promise as I did have the faster bike before.. the Speedmaster I am just looking at all the goodies you can get!!

Congratulations Martyn! I hope you're still going to Asendorf this summer? I mean, you can have some extra half hour coffee brakes now and then while waiting for the rest of us to catch up...

Sorry Martyn,
I thought this was some kind'a April Fools joke or somethin', earlier.
Congrats on the new bike. Those babies are great for long distance cruising, especially two-up.
About a week ago as I was pulling into a restaurant's parking lot on my BA in Hermosa Beach CA and ran across a guy by the name of Al who was riding a red RocketIII. We of course started talking Triumph and I told him about this website.
Ironically, he also(like Yours Truly)lives and works in SoCal(Santa Ana) and has just bought a new house to retire to shortly in northern Arizona(Williams AZ, in his case...the railhead for the Grand Canyon Railway) and said he's ridden three or four times between his SoCal house here and his other place in AZ on the RocketIII(about 400 miles each way), and reported it perfect for that kind of high-speed Interstate riding.
Enjoy! And as always....rubber-side down Dude,
Cheers,
Dwight

Clive,
Welcome to the site.
I actually live in the South Bay, but often ride up to the Rock Store or up Angeles Crest to Newcomes for a Sunday scoot. Been a while since I've ridden Ortega Hwy, but if you'd like to get together soon for a ride, send me a private message here one day, and I'll see what we can cook up.
Cheers, Dwight (it seems with all the new SoCal people arriving everyday, I think it just may be a good idea for me to set up some kind of gathering and ride around here pretty soon)

I know EXACTLY what you mean, Adey!!! This lament o' yours(and MINE) just goes to show ya that...LIFE AIN'T FAIR!!!
Ya remember back when these Rockets first appeared on the market, and those "bright boys of Hinckley" GAVE ONE AWAY to that little freakin' Scientologist TOM CRUISE???
Well...DO YA, HUH???!!!
Yeah...like HE COULDN'T AFFORD to buy his own!!!!!
Well...I'M better lookin' AND taller than THAT little twit(no problem HERE with gettin' BOTH FEET down on ground at stop-lights), so WHERE the HELL is MY FREE ROCKET III...HUH, MR. BLOOR???!!!
Cheers, Dwight (and EVEN THOUGH I haven't appeared on the stage since playing Macbeth in high school back some 38 years ago in that stupid Drama Class, I THINK I could STILL probably act better than that clueless jerk does, TOO)

Clive, First, welcome. I used to live somewhat near you, in El Toro... about 25 years ago! Moved to Montana in '81. Second, you'll probably get a better response if you start a new thread with your question. I can't move your post into a new thread without moving every response after yours.

Thinking ahead - something I try not to do too much of because it makes my brain hurt - suppose next year that Triumph bring out the speculated mid-range cruiser, and suppose some of us decide that we want one: if we start one-by-one to migrate to Rocket IIIs and "Baby Rocket" (or whatever the mid-range is called) how long do we, at what point do we, as a group, become more triumphcruiser.com as opposed to bonnevilleamerica.com? And does it even matter?
Just a thought

That's a very good question, Sigmund. I think that one has to go all the way to the top office. Technically speaking the name of this site became obsolete in 2003 with the addition of Speedmasters and the dropping of "Bonneville" from the Americas. The short answer is that all of them are welcome. The long answer is a bit more complicated. I think we'd only start adding forums for Rocket IIIs and the Baby Rocket as they were needed.

A really nice ride is up I5 to 126 and west to Fillmore. Nice little town with a great open air restaruant (Fillmore Cafe) and a very interesting switching yard full of vintage railroad equipment. They do excursions on weekends. http://www.fwry.com/

Don't know about the hail mary's, but if Martyn & Jan (Beamer23??) carry everyone's tents over to Germany, they could be setting them up while the rest of us make our way sedately down!

Or is it that I'm tight?
I heard of a guy who was in a similar position to me (not enough no claims discount) but he got insurance by paying £600 ($1050) per year.
I'm currently paying half that for two bikes.
I wanted the Rocket after the first pics and even changed to the America after reading the Rocket was a cruiser.
I managed to test ride it the day after they had it at the dealer's and they even loaned me one for a day while my America was having the 10,000 miles service.
I hate the way insurance companies know they have you by the short and curlys and charge what they want.
When Martyn called me, I said I'd keep the America but would consider trading the Scrambler for the new mid-sized cruiser when it comes out.

Yeah but Siggy, this site is called bonnevilleamerica.com
We have Speedmasters in abundance here.
Should they go start their own bonnevillespeedmaster.com site too?
It's a minefield aint it?
