Greetings All,

Not sure if I'm remembered or not but used to come in here quite often. A lot of things happened since then but I'm back once again. I recently retired from the military and back home in the USA. Was overseas 21 years and now returned so a little adjusting was taken place. I am in the great show-me state now and working in KC, MO. Life is REALLY good and I am enjoying being back on the civilian side! I was told the transition would be a difficult one but a big ol' PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT to that! Life is good!

I have my old girl (2006 Bonnie Creamsicle) and she is still with me as she traveled the world with me. I am going to put a sidecar on her though so I can have some fun with her with my two boys (7 & 4) riding with me. I am on the hunt for an American and/or Speedmaster. I am pretty open on what I get other than it has to be carb'd. I will definitely be combing through the classified ads here. Anyways, hello once again folks.

Matt

if you look on craigslist and find something of interest on this side of the state, let me know and I'll go check it out for you

Welcome home.

Weren't you the one who posted the nice videos of riding in Japan's backcountry?

Thank you very much, I appreciate that. I did find this one in the Springfield area and is in the range of what I am looking for. I might give the guy a call and look more into it but generally I like to buy a bike between the months of November through February. But other than switching back to pegs, this bike has what I'm looking for. I know these motors well so I am not even concerned over 20,000 miles.

Yup! That was me and then I started video documenting all my maintenance/mechanical work on the bike and posting it to my youtube page.

Well, I was just south of you, riding in Taiwan, mostly the green east coast!

Still here!

Enjoy being back home!

I am enjoying it although it has been a transition. As funny as it may sound about having to transition back to your own country but I was fortunate enough to do all my 21 years overseas. I'm not complaining though; I have a really great job that I like and it's great knowing I am home every night plus the wife and I are really digging the Kansas City area...this place is a great little secret and they have killer BBQ here!!

I go through KC quite often and hit bbq joints as much as possible. They definitely have some winners there!

I'm just getting to know a few of them so far but here is my order:

Arthur Bryants (I could drink that darn sauce!)
JC's
Zarda
Smokehouse
Gates

I've been told that Q39 is the up and coming contender for best BBQ in KC by more than one person so far so that one is the next on the list to try.

I also had a steak from Jess & Jim's steakhouse the other day....HOLY CRAP! Family owned since 1938 and was put on the list as one of the top 10 places to get a steak in the USA. I had the porterhouse and it was the best steak I've had in my life (and my gut has been around the world)! I'll probably have to sell my Triumph and buy a bicycle instead if I keep eating like this!

Joe's (used to be Oklahoma Joe's) in a gas station I can't remember the name of is fantastic. Be ready to wait an hour for for it. Danny Edwards is really good too. Fiorella's Jack Stack is very nice and one of my favorites although a bit pricey. I hit Gates on the way home a lot because it's right off I-70

I've had 3 little pigs too and thought it was bad! If you want to stop for desert on the way home then get off the Route 7 exit at Blue Springs off of 70 and then go left on Route 7. Go up maybe 1/4 mile and on the right is a "Custards Last Stand." They make their own custard and has been voted best in KC for the last 10 years. Simple but AMAZINGLY delicious!
