Along with my front disk rotor, I need to replace my stock right front turn indicator lens again. I replaced it, about a year ago.

Back then, I had come out from the grocery store and found it in pieces, but no damage to the bulb. I thought maybe some PO'd motorist had hit it with their door or something.

But this time, it was sitting in my garage for a day or two. I noticed the lens had broken into multiple pieces again. So, it wasn't due to someone hitting it with anything.

Fortunately, my local dealer has one in stock and I'll pick it up this Saturday.

I don't think I am one that puts massive amounts of torque on fittings and in fact, I thought I was careful not to tighten it down too much last year. So I'm a little concerned about this. I've noticed one of the rear lens has some small cracks in it too.

Has anyone else had problems with stock signal lenses breaking apart on their own ?

I'm not really inclined to change the lights to something else.

Steve

That's really odd, must be the salt air if you are near the coast. Those things are made of some sorta polycarbonate and pretty tuff.

I'm inland, salt air wouldn't be an issue at all, especially being polycarbonate. And it has rarely been ridden in the rain.

The first time, I thought maybe someone had smashed it, since I was in a parking lot. But this time, in my garage for a few days, and it just cracks and falls apart, is really annoying.

If it happens again, I'm going to look into some LED alternative that is, hopefully, a wee bit more rugged. Although, I do like the look of these little pumpkins.

I had the same thing happen with my right turn signal lens. I also thought someone broke it but after it happened again I took a closer look. Come and find out I had brake fluid leaking out and down onto the lens. It degraded it. Changed the rubber in the master brake reservoir and no more problem.

'06 America, Raask foot controls, the bike use to be Graphite and Silver, now its Red and Black.

Damn !! I never considered that. And it sounds plausible, as the lens tends to just break into little pieces as I remove it. Thanks !!

Now, are you talking about what is called the "diaphragm reservoir" (Part #: T20206017) in the parts book (Item # 9)? It's that big rubber piece that sits on top of the reservoir.

I don't recall if there's a little rubber seal around the top. Is this what you are referring to ?

Where did you get a new one, Dealer or ???

Thanks again !

Steve

I have that rubber, you can have it for postage. It's not new, but I believe it to be viable and won't leak. If you want it, PM me.
