Hello all, having an issue with my 2006 TBA. When riding in the rain for about an hour, i lose one cylinder. at first i thought this to be an issue of the spark plug well filling up with water, however after this last bout, i pulled over and check and both wells were dry as a bone. after i pulled over to check it, fired it up and both pistons kicked like nothing was wrong. it is definitely related to the rain, in that if it is dry, Lady Steel runs like a champ. I have a 4k mile ride coming up in two weeks and i need to get this demon put to bed. PLEASE HELP!

Di-Electric grease is your friend. Also make sure the drain hose coming out of the bottom of the air box under the bike is cut at an angle.

Check the vent hose for the gas tank, cut the end at a angle. If water drops get in the end it with not vent and fuel will not flow to the carbs correctly. Once the engine stops the pressure will equalize and then it will start again. Opening the gas cap slightly will fix it while you are on the road.

Dielectric grease is special grease you put on electrical connections to keep water out and prevent corrosion. Can get it at any hardware store or electrical supplier. Could be water getting in the CDI, I think Friar John had an issue with that at one time and sealed it with silicone and hadn't had any more issues.

Is it always the same side? If so you may have a small cut in the plug wire allowing water to short it. Switch covers from one side to the other, see if the other cylinder cuts out after the switch. You could also look to make sure the plug wire is tight on the coil, if a little loose the added moisture could shut it down.

Its a black hose connects to a nipple front right side of your tank, runs back on the spine of the bike under the tank then drops straight down in the area of your oil filter.

Have you opened the gas cap when this is happening to confirm the vent hose issue as already suggested buy Micah? In heavy rain, the water from the front tire appears to end up hitting the vent hose for the fuel tank. It is situated directly behind the engine by the swing arm. There is also a vent hose for the float bowls and 2 hoses with plugs in them to drain the air box. Make sure you trim the one from the fuel tank. The tip over valve is situated in this hose and it sits just behind the carbs. I had the same problem where my engine would barely run or outright quit in heavy rain. Cracking the fuel tank would keep me going.
