Ok , thinking of a solid rear rim on the Bonnie-A.....first thought is a Speedmaster rim (yes not solid but solidish). I guess Baxters would be the best place to get one ??? any suggestions .......

Check Ebay, I got a set there cheap, I have the old style SM wheels in my shed, not sure I want to sell them though.

e-bay ? didn't think of that .....
I did the big-bore some time back and have had a problem with the cush drive loosening ever since. even after "shimming" with some rubber strips... was thinking it might be time for a new hub and was thinking a solidish(no spoke) rear(speedy)to be styling some more ..... from Triumph the rear rim is $1200 ..... finding a rim is like looking for hens teeth.... I'll keep an eye on e-bay

Ebay has had about 15 Spdy solid rear wheels for sale in just the last few months, I saw one wheel cycle through several times without a bid and the start price was $49.95 and $27 shipping. Just for Shts and Giggles, try "Triumph Speedmaster Wheel" on the search bar at EBay. If you change your cush rubber over to a Thunderbird Sport specific cush rubber, you'll quit having issues with that too.

I'm just having a wheel built(spoked) 17 x 5.5 on the back end of my america, just seem to be struggling getting hold of an innertube at the moment to take the 180/55 - 17 Avon tyre..

Are you shimming your sprockets outboard? I found a source for offset front and back matching sprockets if you need them. Also you might want to start shopping for sprockets to lower your final drive ratio. A larger circumference rear really takes away your power to the ground at take off.

That all depends, you can run a larger rim with a tire that has a lower profile to compensate, giving about the same over all diameter.

There are some very low profile tires available in 17", but I don't think 16-17-18 x 42 sprockets will be quite low enough for any profile. With 200/70-16s I run a 15 x 42 and a 16 x 43, two bikes. The 15t set up works barely low geared enough for me, but I have figured out what 5th gear is for, now. Still has lots of zoom in 5th even at 95 MPH, and I like that aspect..
