now my question is : was the yawn a side effect of riding the Triumph or the Indian ?

I remember letting a Indiana June bug go past my teeth at 75 mph, riding my 69 650 Tiger, it felt like it was going to penetrate far enough to come out of the back of my head. Clenched teeth always, after that.

Mmmmmm.... an all natural snack. I caught a bee once - he stung me on the roof of my mouth. Spit or swallow quickly.

And in a like vein...I just bought a "survivalist" manual at a store. Kinda cool tips on starting fires, surviving the elements, surviving other survivalists trying to take your stuff...Anyway, it listed four bugs you can definately eat. Ants were described as tasting like "lemon drops", cause of the follic acid in them. Now, I LIKE lemon drops. I wanna try to see if it's true, but I don't want to. That would be soooo cool if they were tasty...say, you're at a picnic, ya find some ants and tell everybody, "hey, look, theres some ants!", and them pop them in your mouth! It would be a skill that would continue to amaze and disgust, time after time! Hmmmm, lemon drops....

True story. Third grade, public school in a progressive (beach) neighborhood. 1963. School lunch, we were served fried ants. Just a dry pile of little black crunchies. It was supposed to be good for us. This was back in the day when you had to clean your plate, but this 7 y/o refused to eat it and got in trouble. Too bad, but in the trash they went.

My dad was called to the school to discuss my behavior. I don't know what was said, but they never served them again.

I have eaten ants in a nature survival course I took, have to pop the heads off the ants to avoid the pinchers. As for the lemon drop thing, they did have an acidic taste but I wouldn't say they tasted like lemon drops.

Took a Praying Mantis in the shoulder at 90 MPH on my buddies K900 years ago THWACK!. Don't understand why people like to ride with open face when I get home and have to clean the bug debris off my face sheild.

Even with a windshield bugs, rocks and bird sh1t have gotten through. I was on a short ride on a rural road the other day on the Adventurer (no windshield) wearing my full face helmet when a kid flew past me on a crotch rocket wearing no helmet and no eye protection. My face shield was covered with bugs so I wondered how far he was going to make it. Like a former boss of mine used to say, "You pays your money and you takes your chances."

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

So tooth picks or dental floss are suggested tools in the saddle bag.

Back in the day, I wore my old football mouthguard when I was riding aggressively off-road. These would be cool...

When I was a teenager I lived in Mi and back then there was no helmet law so of course I never had one. Anyway one night I was rideing to my girlfriends house out in the county when a junebug hit me ( or did I hit it lol) on my forehead. Holy crap , liked ta knock me off the bike ( prob doing 60/70 mph) and when I got to her place there was a lump that looked like someone hit me with a bat lol hurt like hell for Cple days !! Will never forget that !! Yrs later while rideing in woods ( wearing all raceing gear ) my friend that was in front of me squirted a rock the size of a golf ball off his rear tire that came at me like a golfer had just hit it with all his might lol and thank goodness was wearing helmet that day cuz that would have hurt lol but brought back memories of that bug for sure

ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

A few years ago I was cruising about 75 on the interstate wearing a 3/4 lid and shades. Get smacked and one eye goes completely black. Managed to keep my s**t together and peer into the mirror The whole side of my face with my right eye being ground zero was completely covered with stinky green goo. Even had exoskeleton shrapnel all over my shades. Not sure what it was but he was a juicy mother...
