I knew somethine was up with my front brakes, but was surprised to find the pads down to the metal. These are sintered metal pads that I got from Newbonneville. They were put on shortly after I got the bike, so maybe 9,000 miles. I ride the bike around town a lot, so there is a bit of stop & go. I do try to use compression braking whenever I can. Fortunately, I saved the original stock pads, so I put them on. But I'm wondering is 9,000 miles average life time for sintered metal brakes ?
Thanks, Steve

9000 is not too bad, you can factor in weight, braking habits, traffic, salt on the road, etc. , but 9K ain't bad.

If you're riding in uneven terrain, (uphill, downhill), that's also going to factor in. What do the rear look like?

For BA's, maybe. SM's have dual front brakes, so the pads would normally have a longer service life, subject to how & where used.
That sounds about right to me for organic rear pads, though.

Thanks all. I do a lot of riding around town, sitting in highway traffic and up in the mountains.
The rear pads are OK.
Looks like I'm going to have to replace the rotor. It's got these little nubs showing, so I know that's going to chew up the stock pads pretty quickly. This could be interesting.

Any thoughts on this rotor, or should I stick with stock rotor replacement (haven't checked Triumph's pricing yet) http://www.powersportparts.net/EBC_Replacement_OE_Rotor_MD649_p/4457227.htmSteve
