As some of you may recall my daughter bought an 03 Speedy a couple of months back. The bike was living at my house until now. I brought the bike to her in n.y this week. The bike was sold to her by the original owners widow. we have all the paperwork from Alabama including affidavits stating the widow can sell the bike.Problem is N.Y. State in all their infinite wisdom claims the bike has to be titled in her name for her to sell it.The bike was bought through e bay and again was some time ago. I understand there are title companies that will do this for you. anyone know of any and the cost? thanks Charlie.
Just an old Hippie and I don"t know what to do.

Wow, she should have titled it in her name. If you have the probate documents with the courts seal on it giving her the bike you should have enough though.
You are gonna need an Alabama title person to fix that one.
Good luck.

I don't know the name of the place anymore but there is a company that does a title search for you and issues a transferable registration for about $200. This is for vehicles that have no title usually. I think the place is in New Hampshire but I could be mistaken.

I live in Alabama and have a pretty good relationship with a local probate judge. Tell me how I can help you.

yup ny is a pain..and your going about it the right way..I have had this happen to me here in ny ..the only way to fix it here in ny would take to much.. you would need the owners widow here in ny with the death certificate and other paper work and both would have to stand in font of a notary with photo ID and sign the DMV paper work..
