It's finally time to look for another insurance co. for my Indian full coverage. When I bought it, my insurance co hammered me for $700+ and that really ticked me off. At that time, I had a spotless driving record. But I was under the gun and swallowed it. Now, 12 months later, it's time to see where I can get a better deal. But NOW there's a problem. I had a minor fender bender in March. No ticket. My first accident in 30 YEARS! I talked to my insurance guy about finding me another co. and he came back and said that accident is hurting my chances to find a good rate. REALLY?!! One accident in thirty years and now I'm a risk?! No wonder people hate insurance co's so much. I'm still gonna go out tomorrow and look for another co.

I just be lovin me some insurance companies. I signed a commercial policy on my big truck with Mercury for 2200.00 a year, paid 400.00 on it, got a cancellation notice in the mail very quickly saying they don't write that type of insurance, 3 weeks later got a refund check minus 124.00 for administration fees . Can't get a human to complain to, agent won't answer his phone.

The insurance on my America was $450 with only $9,000 coverage.I tried a few companies and thought that was the best I was going to do but a motorcycle website suggested a bikes only company "Insure my ride" [it's a reputable company] $300 for $11,000 cover.
Shop around Rich.I'm sure there must be good rates over there.

GEICO since the 70s (for bikes). Occasionally, I'll shop around, but never find cheaper. I've never had a claim though.

I only had one hiccup with them. When I decided to sell my Gold Wing, I called to ask if the bike would be covered if I let licensed riders test ride the bike. They said no, I said okay. A week later, I got a cancellation notice in the mail. Their reason was that I was allowing others to ride the bike. I wasn't. Point? Be careful how you ask questions.

I'm in the same boat as you regarding auto insurance though (not GEICO). About 18 months ago, the parking brake on my Isuzu Trooper failed and it rolled back into the door of my wife's van - in my driveway. A little over $3K in damage. No other main line company will touch me now.

I have Progressive for $19 a month, full coverage, $250 deductible. I get it through USAA (cause USAA doesn't cover bikes), but I'm sure Progressive's normal rates are similar.

I started with Geico at about $600 a year full coverage for the America. It creeped up to around $900 over 6 years. I checked Allstate at a bike event because I wanted the free tote bag. $110 a year for the Tiger. I added a Street Triple last fall and now I'm paying 150 something a year, full coverage on both. Get the agent to include every discount; garaged at night, motorcycle safety course, own home, lump sum instead of payments, etc.
I now have 3 cars, 2 trucks, 2 bikes, and my house with him.
Lost the tote bag.

Yeah I had state Farm for 25 years and they dropped my MC coverage when I had the MC accident last fall. I went with Progressive. It is only $31 per month for 2 bikes. One full coverage and one with just liability. I think it is a good deal. The one down side is I went from a $250 deductible to $500 for damage.

Isn't Insurance great? It's wonderful to pay until you have a claim then IF they'll still insure you your premium and or excess goes through the roof

Just got back from a new Insurance co. Dairy Land for $380 a year, 50/100/50, 500 deductible. Waaaay better than my old policy at $640. By the way, the old policy was from Progressive. In talking to people, and comparing apples to apples, rates seem to be all over the board. Weird. Thanks for the input fellas.

Yep Rich, rates are weird and vary amazingly, but aren't we going to get into, "I can get insurance for $24 and a handful of beads" ?

Cheap isn't always better, some small companies can be very hard to get a payment out of them on a claim.

True. My first insurance company (very early 70s) went bankrupt a couple months into my policy. I'd paid for the year in full. Got a letter in the mail from the insurance commissioner telling me I had to find another company, then it took a couple of years to get a refund of about $11 if I remember correctly. Bastids!

Hey, the name of the company is Dairy Land. That means cows, right? And who doesn't like milk products? And as I've told a couple of my kids, why buy the cow when you already get the milk for free? And although this cow didn't give me free milk, it was a lot cheaper! Makes perfectly logical sense to me!
