Over 100 Polaris Slingshots in Maggie Valley this weekend @ Slingshots in the Smokies.

They no longer interest me!

they look like cheap plastic tubs from that back side and they are pretty ugly from all angles

Saw one a couple days ago and they do look cheap and make me wonder why anyone would want one.

I was told by one of the riders (?) that there were 134 Slingshots attending. One of the things that confused me was the number of Slingshots trailered to the event (a lot of plates from NC, SC & TN) - aggravating since each truck, trailer and Slingshot combo took up 3 parking spaces at the hotels. Are they so uncomfortable that they can't even be ridden 200 miles? I get that there's not much room for storage and I did see a few with Givi bags mounted behind the headrests. A couple with roofs (fabric) and a couple with PVC tubes zip-tied to the rear view mirrors to duct fresh air back into the footwells. Interested, since I'd never seen one up close, but just not impressed with the execution or practicality. At least the Can-Am has a frunk.

I'd rather just drive a Miata.

My first beef with the Slingshot is the lack of storage. There is a small area behind each seat to put a small overnight bag, but that's about it. I'm guessing that will be changed going forward.

The Slingshot is an all weather machine - it can be ridden in the rain even with the open cockpit. Try that in a convertible Miata! The only downside is that you're sitting in a bucket seat that would probably become a bucket of water.

Based on everything I've seen and heard about these things, they are a gas to ride. As opposed to the Can-Am with all the traction and stability control, you can really throw the Slingshot around and smoke the tires. Fast. Very fast.

It is definitely another 3-wheeled option for people that want to have fun but can't or won't ride a motorcycle.

seen one up close the other day, not sure what the big deal is, i hear they can tear up the roads and corners pretty good but the seats dont look very comfy, the dash and stuff is very very plain, not very sporty looking and tons of plastic all over the place. Would not be for me, no chance in hell.

I'd rather have a Morgan 3 wheeler.

I agree - the Morgan is a much cooler looking vehicle, albeit very pricey. To me, the Slingshot looks too "transformerish." But I am sure it is a fun ride.

Just look at the engine on the Morgan , It has fins..... the sling-shots don't... have fins that is......

I love the Morgan also. But there's no way there is 50 K worth of machine there. Same with the Atom. The Slingshot is 23 K. I like it and I would definately buy one.

Finally got to check one out up close and personal, verdict...too darn BIG. Very disapointing, the specs look good but the execution is weak. I'd rather have a used Saturn Sky with the Turbo 6 speed.

Totally! And I'll buy one right after I win the lottery! (Oh crap, I said that about the Indian too, didn't I?)Still, there is NO WAY they can justify the 50 thousand dollar price tag. There just ain't enough machinery there! But, love it, love it, love it!

I would add a couple leather straps over the hood to enhance that retro look.

Guys drop thirty to forty grand on loaded Harley's all the time. The Morgan is pretty much a hand built machine, 50K seems reasonable compared to a Harley. P.S. The Morgan is on my Lotto wish list, way ahead of a "loaded"Harley.

I saw a Slingshot out on the road today for the first time. It looked about as out of place on the road as would a jetski. The dude driving (riding?) it had on shorts, tank top and full face helmet

Have a Polaris dealer across from my office and he took me for a ride in one. It was a gas, but I was laughing my a** off. You miss a pothole with the front wheels only to hit it with the back one. LOL

It was more fun than I thought it would be, but I wonder how long before the novelty wears off.

The only reason I could see to have one is if someone was crippled enough so as not to be able to ride on two wheels,as is the case with a trike, and a sidecar also IMO

I was at the slimy crud ride in Leland yesterday and (Madison?) dealer had a slingshot out there to show off. The hood/bonnet was open so you could see the suspension all everything. Pretty slick, not my kind of thing, but I am sure its a fit for somebody.

If crippled I would rather go for a traditional trike with either HD or Triumph power plant, if not that then a Spider. That Slingshot would be may last choice.

how crippled?

missing arm or leg to go with the spider?

severe head injury to go with the HD?

where do you draw the line

I rode with a guy, didn't know him just ran into him on the road who had no legs. He was on a Spider and was fast as he11 too. My good friend rode a VW trike he had one leg missing. There was a guy on a sportster who rode around the world too and he was missing one leg and 1/2 the other. He was on 2 wheels, that's cool right there!

Saw a fella in a sling-shot a few weeks back headed to BB&BBQ in Northwest Arkansas..... he was all decked out in Harley riding gear including leather do-rag and chaps..... funny but glad he helps out keeping motor-bike sales alive and kicking for the rest of us

My brother just bought the new F3 Spyder, it is much better than the 2011 Spyder he traded in. The new one has a 3 cylinder and sits much better. A big improvement, but for 24K I'd still rather go with the Harley Freewheeler if I needed a Trike. And no I have no Brain Damage, I actually ride bikes before I make a judgement call.
