I bought a cush drive for my 2003 America last fall and finally got around to taking the wheel off yesterday. The new cush drive (part no. T2012201) is much different than the old one. It is much thicker and has no relief cuts for the spoke anchor positions. Is it possible that I have a cush drive for an aluminum wheel?

The original OEM rubbers came with too much slop, which is why many of us changed out the original cush rubbers when worn out, with the one specified for the Thunderbird Sport. The TBS fits so well, I had to lightly lube the rubber with olive oil and tap it in with a deadblow hammer. No slop equates into longer service, at least it has for me. !0,000 miles for my original, 25,000, so far, for the TBS rubber replacement and still no apparent wear.

...thanks to Eddie Hofstrand at Fast Eddy Sports, I have learned that there is an early and a late cush drive for the Triumph America. My 2003 has the earlier style and the later design is not even close. I have no doubt that there is an early and late design for the Thunderbird as well...

I got one from the dealer that did not fit. It was a mix up because of the confusion over Bonneville vs Bonneville America when the order was placed.
