Can a 2003 Triumph Bonneville America,@ 790 be bumped up to the new BA's cc's by using the piston cylinder, pistons, rings, ect., of a newer larger model on my exsisting 2003 BA. Will the cylinder line up so I could use original triumph parts to get more power..Comments, suggestions, and revelations quite welcome!! Thanks!!

You can do a 904 big bore. That bike has hotter cams and makes as much or more HP than the newer 865s now if memory serves me well.
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

yeah, if you want to go through all the trouble of making a 790 into a 865, you might as well just do the 904

865 cylinders (jugs) and pistons are a direct swap in a 790. I have a low-mileage set of 865 jugs & pistons available that I might part with if properly incented...

And keep your 790 cams, you'll get a bump. I believe there are 865cc bore, 10.5 comp ratio pistons available from Wiseco too, since you're in there anyway.

Do you know of anybody doing this to one of our engines? I know for a fact a decent condition timing chain would readily absorb the slack of 0.5mm, but can you still get a seal on the external Chrome downtube on the front of the jugs? Seems like about 65% of the time I change things like that, there is an unexpected underlying issue I have to resolve along with it. But if it's doable without a lot of fuss, THAT'S A GREAT IDEA!

It is! I've just read about it in a swedish mag called MCM. (maybe you can fin it on the web? But in swedish...) They did this, but what extras that came along, I don't know. They did some headwork/ported, 0,5mm off, pod-filters, rejetted and some gasthrough pipes and gained almost 70 bhp on the tyre! On Triumphrat.net there's a swedish bloke that calls himself jojje1963 who knows alot about tuning these engines. He writes in english. Here's his website http://www.stabbarps-auto.com/bonneville1.htmlHe's got a Bonneville with more than 200 bhp! Check him out. But be aware....these talks does things to people, they want more power!

This would seem to be the most cost efficient route if you are on a tight budget but the 904cc TPUSA big bore kit would be the best route to go, especially for the torque increase. It is the same amount of work to intall. I have found that every time I try to cheap skate something I end up wishing that I would have done it right the first time.
2006 865 Neon Blue/Jet Black Speedmaster,790cams, TTP Stage 2 Firestarter, Epco Exhaust with 10.25" Samson Vrod baffles, UNI pods with 40 pilots, 150 mains,Thruxton needles, 3 turns out.
