 Easy brackets posts

Just removed my sissy bar and went with a fender rack.The new easy bracket posts I got from fast eddy are on there too.It seems I'm having a heck of a time making the new posts accept the brackets.I can get the one on the left side of the bike on but once it's on it's a crank to get get it off again.The right side is worse. I loosened the front post on the right side and it drops right on but when I tighten it, back to square one.I tried putting a very thin washer behind it but same outcome. Any suggestions? 
Just an old Hippie and I don"t know what to do.

Make sure the fender is positioned correctly on the struts, it sound to me like the posts are not seating squarely in respect to each other.

Ian's right. If the posts are the least bit crooked, the brackets will bind.

I just recently installed a set of easy brackets and had the same problem as you, i noticed that the fatter part of the post ( the bit were the slot is that the bracket sits in ) was touching the fender rail, only slightly but enough to make the post crooked, back it off and bracket would go on, tighten it up and no way. A washer or two between post and fender rail, tighten up and bracket slips on and off like its supposed to  I'm not sure but I suspect that the posts I got were for my bike without a sissybar, I have a sissybar, I think there might be two different length posts, I hope this helps.

Just realised I didn't tell it quite right, I have a Triumph sissybar on my bike, the easy bracket posts were hitting the sissybar not the fender rails. The fender rails and sissybar are on the same angle so the guts of it is the posts should not touch either one.

I had to use washers on mine to insure the posts were lined up in the same plane as the bracket. If I recall properly only the rear posts needed help.

Actually there are three different lengths of posts. I do not remember the measurements, but which combination you use makes a difference depending on which accessories you have installed on the bike. If you go to Easy Brackets web site I think they list the different post lengths.
