Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

Another national treasure has left us. I first heard him play at the now defunct Eagle Auditorium (small venue) in Seattle along with a Band named Spirit (Natures Way, Fresh Garbage) in 1968. The tickets were $4.00 at the door, IIRC.

A great loss for sure. I had the pleasure of seeing him preform on 5 different occasions. Three times at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, once at the House of Blues and once in Memphis. Now he is in rock and roll heaven with a lot of other great ones bet they have a hell of a band.

I hope there is a legacy fund to keep his museum in Indianola Miss. going. Its well worth a visit if you are passing through the delta.

The only way his museum will falter is if his heirs redirect funds away from it. He did not die a poor man.
