Basic tools for the big components like the axles and brakes, chain breaker and master links, and a cable repair barrel.Similar to this.. Makes a quick repair that will get you through the rest of the day or even several days if the rest of the cable is OK.

I feel kinda like no matter what I have, I will need what I didn't pack. Might need a trailer to carry everything I would possibly need A cell phone and credit card is a bare minimum these days. But I do carry a small tool pouch. Started as a Cruz Tools kit. Have a small assortment of metric wrenches, Allen wrenches, a small crescent, screw driver, zip ties, small roll of wire, tape and a small flash light. Need to add a tire plug kit. Had my first flat front tire last month several hundred miles from home! A small air compressor could be very helpful as well.

Small crescent wrench, 5&6mm hex, star bit to remove battery strap, small z-shaped screwdriver (for battery terminals), flashlight.
I toted more for years and only needed them wrenching at home, so I dropped the extra weight and ride with luck and faith .
Small plastic ratchet/socket set fits in fork bag and holds the various bits and screwdriver too.
I do carry a few fuses, and a bunch of various-sized zip ties in that fork bag as well.

I changed those out with stainless Phillips head screws. 3 tools to get to the battery!! Was that really necessary Triumph? Sorry for the rant, let's get back to tool kits.

I'm planning my trip to Canada this month also. Any idea about what to carry for a tubed tire flat? While I can fix a tire on the Indian in my shop, there's no way I could do it on the road.
