I spoke with a guy who recently returned from a hog hunting trip. He said it was a blast. I've heard a lot about wild hogs tearing up areas of the South. Has anyone been hog hunting? I'm thinking wild hogs would be a much better prey than the deer we have around here.

I've shot quite a lot of wild pigs over the years in Australia. It can get fast and furious if you run into a mob of them.Haven't been for a few years now.I just target shoot these days.

I've got one in my freezer. Ham, shoulder, loin, chops, ribs, and sausage (Italian and Country).

A lot of hog hunting goes on in Western OK. A friend here in my offices goes at least once a year, loves it.

we have wild hogs in the southwest corner of Wisconsin. they cause a lot of crop damage. You can hunt them year around with a small game permit.

12 gauge slug gun is the way to go with hogs.

I'm thinking a .308 with a .357 back up. They were considered very dangerous game in Europe a few centuries back. The "tame" ones in confinements will eat a human if they fall in a pen.

We raised a few Hogs when I was a kid, They were friendly and smart. Probably the best of the critters we had on the little farm, no relation to the wild boors you guys hunt in the wilds.

The few people that I know who hunt wild Hogs generally use Dogs. This is due to the thick under brush. The Dogs will track and redirect the Hogs, but unless you have more than 3 dogs they have a hard time pinning them down. One on one a wild Hog will over power a hunting Dog.

Oh He11, take a whole PACK of dogs, those hogs are dangerous! What kind of dogs are used? Big thick skinned dogs with heavy fur and huge teeth I hope. I'd hate to go hog hunting with only my teeth for a weapon.

I'll take a .308, a .357 revolver and a big a$$ knife.
