I went for a 100k[60 mls]ride after having a norman hyde top put on my America and re-tuned.I was running rich as it was tuned in Brisbane before and I'm now 1,500 ft above sea level.Anyway,my mechanic guy removed the shims from the carb needles and tuned them.My fuel consumption has gone down I'm now getting 20k p litre [50 MPG]again as I was when I first got the bike as opposed to the 17-18 KPL I've had lately.I was running pretty steadily at 120KPH.The pick up seems a little quicker too which is good but I hit the throttle stop at about 145 KPH [about 90 mph]I have had the bike to 100mph so I hope it was a bit of headwind making the difference.It would have got to maybe 95 if I wound it out.At least up to 130KPH is pretty quick and it's not too often I want to go over that.

Sounds like something is a miss. 145 km/hr should be around 4600 RPM in top gear, and redline is 7500. I'd be talking to that mechanic guy and get him to check out the throttle stops.

I've been to 180, but only once.

Mine did 180 on the dyno I had done a few years ago but put me on it and the extra weight would knock some off.He said when He tested it he had it to 150.I'll need to ask him if that was Wide open.
Oncce before I had the dyno done I was riding on the backroads and hit the throttle stop at 130. Then a week or so later I did 160,Must be me I assume,but I'll talk to my mechanic again anyway.

As an update.
I picked the bike up from the mechanic yesterday.
They went to 128 main jets and it needed rubber manifolds replaced from the carbs to the airbox.They weren't split but would be soon.

Anyway the mechanic who's a small guy, said he had it to 160kph with a bit to spare.
I took it for a spin later,I only went to 130kph but it got there easily and there was a lot to go.All in all I think the bike's where it should be,and anymore would require surgery,losing the airbox,cams,big bore or such to get more from it. All's good ATM
