came back from 1500 miles in 4 days, parked the bike for a week, drove it one more time about 20 miles, took the tank off and painted it over the coarse of a week and now the thing is dead. no spark both coil wires are hot (+) with key - no flicker no wire are pulled or cut all fuses are good. checked continuity from pick up coil to cdi box.
the cdi box (procom) just ****** out on these when parked?

Flywheel pick up might be a place to check.

Most likely popped a fuse, pinched a wire, unplugged something by mistake or something like that. Chances the CDI failed on both sides while sitting is miniscule, same with a double coil failure. Could very well have something to do with the pick up coil as RYK suggested too.

Take the tank back off and go over all of your connections, sounds like something got unplugged. Check your cdi connection and especially check the connections that go to the back of your ignition coils, they can easily get knocked loose. I learned that lesson the hard way. Also check your battery terminals and make that they are not loose.

I rewired this thing back when I mono shocked it. I've gone threw all the grounds, solders connections, continuity from all curcuits, Ω out the pick up (630) then regapped it. Now I'm waiting on a alt cover gasket to put that cover back on.. I'm not barking up the coil tree, no way in hell two coils go at once without human error.
I don't think its the pick up. The resistance is a tiny bit high but with in spec and now is readjusted. Wasn't far out.
I know the Cdis fail randomly but I'm going to poke around more but this one has got me stumped.

Thing is nearly all CDI failures drop one side but the other still fires.

Mine did the same thing once. Ran great, for a while, then would drop the right cylinder. Pick up was fine, got a Procom box. Worked great for about 5 years. Then one day it gave me fit starting it. Had to push start it. Ran the tail of the dragon fine and would intermittently drop the left cylinder on the way back, 800+ miles. Bought some Nology coils to replace the stockers and it ran great the following weekend. Went to go out on a ride 3 days later and it had no spark. CDI box was dead. Got a TTP firstarter and it fired right up. The Procom box just died all of a sudden.
Life may begin at 30, but it gets really interesting around 150!

This gives me hope! Haha. I'm going to go over everything everyone said twice more when I get that gasket. To make matter worse I'm in the middle of packing for a cross country move. Back to nh for me! I ordered a cdi to try it. I'm honestly hoping that it died randomly even though the symptoms don't fit.. It is an 790 cdi that came with the bike. And I think the o.g. owner put in the day they became available. Anyone know anything bout the cdi connector? I soldered my wires about an inch from the connector back when I knew a lot less than I do now

Got the replacement procom, didn't fire. One of the of the pins are shorter than the others in it, sending it back.... I'm going to light this thing on fire...
Replaced the pick up with my old 790 one. Didn't work.
Stock coils. The + sign is key on pos and the - is the one that goes to the cdi right? Key on both connectors are +12.86v but it seams the cdi isn't triggering the coils. I ohmed out the pick up wile turning the motor over and only saw a difference of .10 +- Ω can't test for ac current cause I guess you do that at idle speed.
Still stumped.
