My butt keeps asking me to get a better seat. So, what do y'all (or as some say) you guys suggest? seat, gel pad, or air hawk cushion?

Corbin seems to be a hit or miss. I like mine and the backrest, but I also keep one of these in the saddlebag for longer rides. http://www.harley-davidson.com/store/circulator-large-seat-padIt helps prevent Swamp Ass here in Florida.

Stock seat, I could ride 45 mins. Corbin, can ride until out of gas with no discomfort. Seems stock seat sat me on my coccyx, very painful with no support, This on an 04 America.

I've had the stock seat, the Triumph touring seat and a Corbin w/backrest on my Speedy. Corbin is the best for long distance rides and the backrest really helps too. Touring seat isn't too bad, but still not as firm or comfortable as the Corbin.

Corbin. I have three and each one is different. Way too tall you are? The receiver for the backrest might wreak havoc with your Coccyx. The Pro Tac rider back rest with a standard saddle works for some. For others they have the oem saddle 're-worked'. Others have installed different risers to move their arms back a wee bit. Feet forward is a position that takes getting used to. Try using the rear pegs every so often.

Turn your seat upside down. Pull the staples and break the seal. Peel the seat cover back. Use a bread knife for whatever works. Cut about 2" out of the seat. Get memory foam. Cut 1" slices and spray glue them in building from the spine area forward making a pocket. Cover the missing 2" with the memory foam gluing it in like a puzzle. Leave a bit of thickness out where your legs drop down to the side of tank. Put it on the bike without the cover, sit. Does it feel good. Build up spots that don't feel right. Cut down spots that feel high.
Pull the cover back over the seat. Spray glue and staple.
You are done.

i had the corbin on my Sm for a couple years and loved the seat, takes a little bit to get it broke in (they are a hard seat) but when they are i could ride on it all day long. I just bought a mustang seat for my Storm, not to many miles on it yet but did about 100 klm on it the other week and seems to be a nice seat.

Can anyone give a comparison between a seat from Spencer and a touring seat from Triumph? Too late to do anything now, but after an 800+ mile trip next weekend I am sure I will be looking for something.

Spencer is doing my touring seat off my Thunderbird. I should have it back Monday of next week. This is the third seat he's done for me. I highly recommend him. The touring seat was pretty comfortable but got hot real fast because the thicker padding I suppose. He'll replace the OEM padding with the Super core (honeycomb). Shave down the hump in the front area were the family jewels rest and I'll be a happy camper. For the price you cant beat it. Even if you roll the dice and are still not satisfied beats rolling the dice on a 600 dollar Corbin. Been there done that, looked great hated the ride factor. Corbin's supposed to take a 1000 miles to break in> I rode that sucker 5000 miles and my azz never broke in. Happy hunting

Funny how opinions vary, I make multiple state rides on my stock solo seat and find it fine. Seems a waste of money to me to buy anything else.

I use a lowseat with gel for the America post-11. Really nice! But I agree with Dog33, the stock seat is really good.

If you have a young strong back, you can use a 2 x 6 and some rubberbands. Then, there is the rest of us.

I am 50 and have no problem with the oem solo seat, I still like my hardtail springer too. The 2x6 thing reminded me of my friend, he used to tie a rag to the rear fender of his 50 EL pan so his GF could ride.

Bit the bullet today and sent my seat off to Spencer. Will let you know in a couple of weeks if I am as happy as the rest that have done this mod. Only down side is it has finally quit raining and I can't ride.

I dunno....I rode my BA for about a year with the stock solo seat & didn't like it...made me feel very tall/ high center of gravity-wise. I got the Maverick low rider seat on Cinnamon Girl & love it...It's a bit of a hard saddle through & decidedly not for everyone. In 2012 put on 4500 miles on my ride to CA and back & really didn't have much if any discomfort/ back strain throughout.

I recently bought a Mustang seat with a backrest for a cross country trip, and I am pretty impressed with it. Over the past two days I have logged approximately 1200km/750 miles in it and the seat has kept me comfortable, despite the frigid (6C/45F) temperature and rain.
