Barnett for clutch/throttle control cables and Spiegler for custom length brake lines. Use your stock throttle and front brake master, kill/start switch and clutch and stock controls for the left side. Use Google to get to Barnett and Spiegler. I would mount the bar you intend to use and measure exactly how short the lines are and add 1 to 1 1/2 inches for easier routing. Spiegler will have you order brake lines as: stock + 4",as an example. Somebody on here may know of other vendors, but that is who I've traded with in the past.

There are also brake lines available with AN3 fittings on the ends with all different AN3 ends for them available premade from places like J&P Cycles. They come in all different colors.

So nowvI'm thinking of going with 14 apes I would like to get all I need and do it at one time so I will not be without my bike, iis there away to measure measure without mounting the new bars so I can order the cables etc.? Is this something that I can do? Anything that is a concern like the brake line turn signals? Thanks alot

I left out that you will have to splice in wire extensions for the signals, starter, kill switch, and any other electrical I left out. Consider running your wires through your bars by using them as a conduit? Looks a lot better.

No, we are talking solder gun, heatshrink tube and you splicing in whatever wire you decide (use similar gauge) to use. Keep a record of the color of the insulation, and what color you spliced to lengthen. There should be youtube vids on routing your wire inside your bars. you can get your wire from auto parts supply or public industrial sources. One of many: web page

Stagger the soldered splices so you don't end up with one fat spot making it difficult or impossible to pull through the bars. This operation is much easier to do off the bike on a bench, I did mine in the living room on the coffee table. I also used a set of helping hands, also makes the job much easier. helping hands $3.99

I would directly wire into the switches with the new wires so that to only thing to snake through the bars would be straight unmolested wires. No lumps or bumps.

You could just contract the job out to a bike shop? Maybe run an ad in Craigslist, but I would be checking credentials, before I let someone touch my bike..

I spliced mine in the middle to keep the color code on both ends, I used a single color wire for everything because I already had a 100' spool. I wired my other bikes all one color for the entire harness because the harness I make is so simple color coding is not needed.

ok so i just purchased my apes, i went with 12" z bar apes 1 1/4 fats instead of traditional , i sat on a HD similar sized as mine and he had 16s on his he is 6'2" and longer arms than me he said that i would probably be better with 14 but i was thinking 12 lol after i get them in i will then see more where i am with size of cables etc. ANYMORE SUGGESTIONS ARE MORE THAN WELCOMED

On the Barnett site..click on cables (on the left side)...this will bring up clickable pictures of cables..click on the one you want then from the drop down put in your bike...I think you said 2010 America http://www.barnettclutches.com/1982/triumph/0/0/2010-triumph-bonneville-america.htmlThese are the stock cables..so with the Barnett part number say "Part# 101-75-30020" you would order part Part# 101-75-30020 + 3" ...that would be Throttle Cable 3" longer than stock. Having these numbers you can go to a local Harley shop (not a dealer) and they can order the cables..Also at most Harley shops they have break line fittings and hoses. You can make up any size break line you need... Last word of warning is the Harley shop will say..."We don't carry Triumph parts"...Just tell them you have the part numbers and not the worry... One other idea is to use tie wire, I think that is what it is called (soft cheap wire used to tie re-bar with), and run the wire from the handlebar to the carb or what ever the same path you want to run your cables...measure the length of the wire...that is the cable length..You can also mock up a set of handle bars by using 1" PVC pipe and fittings...you can get rise and pull back numbers and cable length..(done the last one before I did my last set of bars)

Not sure what you mean about "cables easier and replace"...you just need the throttle cables and clutch cables...service manual shows how to connect those...

i think to get to the left side cable in between the engine and seat i couldnt get a wrench on it before to tighten so i was worried how i would remove it , i will watch that video and see, my bars should be here in a couple days and then i will go from there on the measuring
btw do u recommend i go a little longer in case i want to go 14s in stead of the 12s i have coming will it look too long on the 12 is my question or can i tuck it some to hide the slack ?
thanks alot again

The cables go down to the carb linkage. On each cable at the linkage you will see a top and bottom nut on the cable...just loosen both nuts..but before you loosen the nuts look an measure how much exposed threads there are on the cable..this will give you an idea where to set the bottom nut on the new cable...at the handle bar there are adjustment nut and ferrule...back those off and the cable will be loose...disconnect at the throttle then at the carb....I don't remember but there MAY be some little brass thingies on the end of the cable that hook on to the throttle tube...just don't lose them they can fall off when you take the cable out of the throttle tube. (again I am not sure about the Triumph it has been a few years since I did this..they are on a Harley which I am working right now..)You can go a little longer that is ok..it will make the cables loop out farther from the handlebar..Mine do because I went from 12" to 8" apes..One trick would be route the cables on the left (stock side) and if you change to 14" route the cables on the right side. Also measure the 12" one then have someone hold a stick up at the 14" level then measure to there (14" level)...if you did the wire trick you could route the wire on the left then on the right to see how much longer you would have on the right side routing...When in stalling the cable start at the carb first..leave the nuts loose not tight they attach at the handlebar...

mine is efi , i can do this myself , i rewired to have all running lights in my signals and did new bars and had to take apart the throttle before to put chrome grips on etc. i think the only problem and learning curve for me is going to be near the engine , also do i have to remove the gas tank to get to those cables ?

btw stock throttle cables are fine for these bars , u will need a new brake line , i got the black ss one and i made my own clutch cable using venhill , i would if u go that route suggest learning how to make your own nipple for the cable the one that came with it pulled right off when i was riding so if u dont feel comfortable making your own out of 50/50 solder then i would pay the price and get one made exactly like u need for these bars
