Quick question.. are the seats for the America and Speedmaster interchangable? And between years? I seem to remember some slight changes between models/years being discussed a long, long time ago when they changed the tank designs, but have forgotten most of what was said.
I put a Corbin on my '04 Speedy, but I also have the original gunslinger seat as well as the Triumph touring seat. They have been sitting boxed up in the garage for years and years and I really doubt I will ever put them back on or need them, so they are just taking up room that could be better used for other stuff. I took the gunslinger off just after purchasing the bike (in 2005), and used the touring seat for less than a year until I replaced it with the Corbin, so they are in more or less new condition.
Cheers, Brad

Thanks Wade. I thought I sorta remembered a difference between the Speedy and the America being something to do with the front mounting stud, with the America not having one.. but that was a long time ago in a land far, far away Cheers, Brad

The only difference between seats is the stud/bolt that goes in the front mount.
The gunslinger/touring/Speedmaster seat uses a stud that mounts in the threaded hole (Fast Eddy sells an aftermarket version) and have a cable release system to clip in, whereas the America twin seat/solo aftermarkets like the Corbin bolts into the same hole (and the rear pad hooks around the bolt).
All use the same threaded hole.
Caspian Blue '03 BA, Union Jack/Stars and Stripes paint, BUBs, Progressive 812s, and lots of chrome

Ahhhh.. now it's coming back to me! I do remember that I had to remove that stud to mount the Corbin, and I do still have it in a little zip-lock bag along with the seats. Thanks!

I looked on eBay, the OEM seats are around 75.00 and jest seem to be languishing. I've tried to sell them before, no takers. Pain in the butt to box up to ship. Seems like lots of us have those gunfighter type seats collecting dust. Now the solo seats seem to have more activity.

You can actually just ride the gunslinger seat without the release bolt in. It doesn't move around when you are sitting on it. The front tongue and chrome rear bolt hold it fine.
Just don't lift hard on it. The pan will flex and the front tongue will pop out. But if you get the seat the bolt is cheap enough to buy you may as well get one.
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

[...] But if you get the seat the bolt is cheap enough to buy you may as well get one.I got the bolt/stud/post or whatever it is called.. took it off because it was in the way when installing the Corbin. Threw it in a zip-lock bag and kept it along with the original seat. When I purchased the bike, I also got the touring seat and sissy bar/rack, which really looks funky with the gunslinger seat... not too bad with the touring seat... but looks pretty darn good with the Corbin seat and pillion. Wasn't really looking to sell them; just had a friend who is thinking about getting an America, and he asked me if they were compatible. I wasn't sure, which is what prompted my query. Cheers, Brad
