I was wondering about boring out my stock carbs as opposed to purchasing new ones. I was wanting to get opinions and info from those of you who have done it. How much does it cost? Where is a good place to get the work done at? How are the performance gain? Thanks in advance guys.

Have you put cams in it yet? You can put bigger carbs on it but you will have to bore your intake and polish it well to marry it up.
I don't believe you are running out of gas with your setup now are you?
Well, my short answer is you have enough gas now. That is a 790 right. Big bore it and cam it. And you will still have enough gas but lots more grunt.

I'm not running out of gas now. I'm contemplating doing the big bore and from what I have researched the 813 cams do not really give enough of boost over my 790s to make them worth it.

It really depends on what you need for more power. The very nature of that motor you will run out of money trying to get more than 75 HP from it. Putting some more air and fuel into the bike won't do very much at this point. They used to say there is no replacement for displacement. You could spend a few thousand with big bore and head work. But the whole bike, no matter what you spend will be worth about 3 grand all the time now.
But I am a bad person to comment on it. Even if we make our bikes "Fast" for our bikes they are still slow. That is why I have always owned more than one bike. You may look at larger valves and port modifications to help with more air and fuel. Mikuni HSR 42 may be a good match for your bike.
My Victory Kingpin is now worth maybe 5k on a good day. 90RW HP with 110 lbs of torque.

My dyno sheet is below, the red line shows the 904 with 1mm oversize valves, ported heads, Scepter exhaust and K&N pod filters. Blue line shows run with bored carbs. Black shows bored carbs with port matched billet intakes. I have a huge thread somewhere in here with all the details and pics and info.

So your blue is 904BB with ported heads, 1mm over valves and a bored carb?
I like the torque line on black.

Yes, it gained horsepower (especially top end) with bored carbs and then the intakes increased torque. I just ordered a FireStarter from TTP and will do another dyno run when I get it on with a 9000 rpm rev limit and stage 2 tune

Somewhere on here is a thread on actually doing the machine work on the carbs. With pictures. I did several sets a few years back based on a series of long conversations with fast Fred before he disappeared. I probably still have the fixtures for making the new butterflies somewhere (but I wouldn't swear to it)
If you have access to milling machine it's pretty straight forward
05 speedmaster - 1100cc, 11:1 racing pistons, Carillo rods, thunderbike cams, ported and polished head, 2mm over intake and exhaust valves, Barnett kevlar clutch, scepter pipes, oversize manifolds, 45mm HSR's, TTP stage 4 firestarter

As it so happens I am a material handler at a tooling and machining company. If I can dig up that thread I can probably have one of the guys at the shop mill it up for me. Thanks for the advice, it's greatly appreciated.

If you get this worked out, let me know...& if you can arrange to do a set for me that would be great. I have a set that I can send with the stock throttle plates already pulled.

I still have to dig up mag10's old thread and have a look at it but if I can get it worked out I will definitely let you know.
