It's okay. My 5.3 will still be working when that Ford turbo goes bad. Wait... am I on the SilveradoSierra Forum or the F150 Ecoboost Forum?

My only question here is why do recent year trucks of ALL makes have to be so freakin' boxy and ugly and with all these straight angles, and not nearly as good lookin' as my 2000 model year Chevy Silverado???

(...I mean, vehicles no matter if they're trucks or not are STILL vehicles which move through air masses and thus should LOOK at least A LITTLE aerodynamic with some flowing lines to 'em, and AREN'T stationary BUILDINGS, ya know!!!!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Not to mention Ford blowing spark plugs out of the heads on a regular basis.

New Fords really are pretty poorly made, I work in a repair shop as well as drive tow trucks. Recently the newest fords have been blowing drive train components, mostly transfer cases. Ford has issues with coil packs too. That is not to say Chevy is great or that Dodge is either. I will never know why but Chrysler can't seem to make good differentials or transmissions. GM seems to have issues with fuel pumps. Cost of repair, I'll go with GM.

I have to agree with you Dwight. My 2000 Sierra Z71 was a good looking truck. But in 2011, at 200K miles, with gas approaching $4 a gallon and a 75 mile daily commute, it had to go. I think it looked better, rode better and drove better than my current '13 Z71. But the wife does like the Victory Red color of the newer one.

I think trucks and cars from the 30s through the 50s had the best styling. Some ugly ones but in general best looking cars were from then.

In my dreams (the one where I have a 10 car garage), I'd have an assortment of them! Several pre '50s and one '56 Bel Air just because.

A ten car garage wouldn't even START to fill my dream car garage! And where are ya gonna put the classic bikes?! Hey, as a thread stealer, how about an accounting of "what is the most beautiful car ever made"?. And lets keep our listing to antiques, like, pre-seventies. My choice would probably go to one of the late 1930s Duesenbergs. I'd give Ian's left nut to own one of those! (and I am not taking this thread to any politcal level by specifying his LEFT nut!)

Old family story. My aunt was dating a divorced man (not acceptable to a Catholic family in the early '30s). But he drove a new Duesenberg. Dad said that made it somewhat tolerable. She married him.

I had a 37 Chevy Coupe years ago. Beautiful lines, looked like it was moving when it was sitting still. HATED selling that car, but family responsibilities forced it.

I like Pontiacs from the 40's and International pickups from the mid 30's

Here's my '49 Dodge, still rocking 6 volt with positive ground and a flathead 230ci straight 6

I had a '49 Dodge panel truck long enough to get about 70% where I wanted it. Then it was stolen.

The split windshield on yours makes me remember that thing.

So, where does this leave all the gorgeous cars of the 1960s, like the C-2 Corvette Stringray, the Jag E-Type, almost every Ferrari of that decade, and most all those great American muscle and pony cars of that era, Ian???

(...as you can tell, my preference runs a little later than yours does)

Y'all are all wrong. Ain't nothing like a 2015 Audi r 8 for a car and a eco boost Ford for a truck.

While there are a few nice cars from the 60s on none can hold a candle to the older cars. The Stingray was an ugly car IMO and I don't think and once Ferarri stopped being rounded they were ugly too and that is the only decent looking Jag made from the 60s on again IMO. That said still can't hold a candle to the older cars.

I liked the body on my 55 Champion over the Hawk but the hawk had the power. I like the sloping hood and rounded trunk on my Champion better than the squared off parts on the hawk. Mine is a 2 door hard top but this shows the trunk and nose.

That Studie Champion was the exact car, color and all, our family had as "our second car"(aka, "Mom's car"...Pop's car was a '62 Caddie Sedan de Ville) back in the early to mid-'60s Ian, and I too always thought the original '53 Raymond Loewy design was inspired and elegant, and especially the 2-door hardtop(sans post) Commander.

But, HOW on EARTH you can call a C2 Corvette Stringray "ugly" is WAY beyond me, dude. Hell, almost EVERYBODY on this freakin' PLANET thinks it's a beautiful car, dude!!! You're really weird, ya know THAT?!

(...now now...don't get mad...I'm just teasin' ya here!)

That was my mistake, I like the C2 especially the split rear window year. I thought the stingray started with this body that I do not like.

Aaah, that's explains it then.

Yep, the 1968-82 C3 Corvettes which were styled after the "Mako Shark" concept car, are generally considered "by most people on this planet" as a step down from the previous generation models.

(...and with their correlative prices in the classic auto auctions reflecting this)

Yep I had an F150, Used, quad cab had it 2 years and the transmission locked up. put a junkyard trans in it and traded it in on a Subaru.

I wont own another Ford truck,, not sure about the cars. Not sure about any american made truck or car anymore. pretty sad. Im thinking i have always wanted a Toyota Tacoma.

The AWD Ford cars are just as bad, maybe worse. The new state police cars here are the Explorers and Tauruses and we have had multiple transfer case failures on both. I am talking cars with 20,000 miles on them!

All corvettes are ugly. But I am no one to bother on this matter , I hate all cars, and only like trucks for the work they can do.
And to see a truck that has never been worked is sad and ridiculous. Automobiles are a means of transportation that is often find necessary.

Come on Chad, think way back. You've got to have a car you felt a little sentimental towards. 1st date...1st time your dad let you drive one, buddy with a muscle car???

I remember I was a junior in High school and my buddy got married and I had to drive his 1968 Dodge Super Bee. Talk about LOVE. That 383 4 barrel, 4 speed Hurst shifter and low restriction pre EPA exhaust. I'll never forget it.

It's kind of funny, I grew up on a farm and learned to drive via Massey Ferguson tractor then later John Deere. I referred the MF over the Deere.
But the Deere was an old H model cultivater. It was a neat old rig that you had to turn the fly wheel by hand to start it. Then I left the farm at 16 and moved to Chicago where I finished school and had a job delivering cars. I would pick up customer cars take them to the shop and when the work was done take them back. I drove many kinds of cars and always just felt trapped. Trapped in a box in traffic every day after school. But I had an old cb500 Honda that I zipped to work and home on. The truth is I day dreamed of clipping down the road on a triumph motorcycle when I was in the field on a tractor or in a fancy car hung up in traffic. most of the time I walked in the city and bicycles in the country if I wanted to go somewhere.
Yea, I'm a weird dude but it is what it is.

I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. Edgar Allan Poe
