China Airlines (not China Air, different company) offered an amazing service from the day of departure to today.
We had a short window (1 1/2 hours) connecting flight through Hong Kong (which can be daunting due to its size) to a different company, and China airlines sent a clerk to help us navigate through Hong Kong airport, letting us cut the lines at security checks, to ensure we would be at the right gate on time. I was impressed.
Then, they offered to move us to an earlier flight on the way back, saving us over 2 hours of waiting, which resulted in our luggage NOT following us, even though the info was keyed in, but the HK airport workers did not follow the new information and our luggage arrived a couple of hours later.
Also, how many airlines now offer a hot meal (pork, rice, veggies plus dessert) on a 1h 15min flight?
Air Canada served us 2 small meals and a cup-a-soup on a 15-hour flight!
AC is also the only company I've dealt with, where all the employees take a break at the same time. Saw them use a bit of tape to make some kind of "fence" with a handwritten note stuck on it mentioning: "No Service". Pretty bad!
Give China Airlines a shot if you can one day. You'll be happily surprised!
