For some unknown reason the purveyors of my employer's brand of "Bro Country" think it's wise for us to put on some concerts in northern Europe. As a result I get a day in Oslo, two days in Stockholm and two days in Dublin. I know we have members who can suggest some cool things to do there...how about it? I'd list the day in London but its going to be a nonstop work day at the O2 arena after a late arrival and we fly back to the US the next morning.

If you'r into history as I am. In Oslo a trip to the Viking ship Museam on an island in Gslo harbour called "Brygdoynne" [wrong spelling] is worth it.Say a prayer to Odin for me In Stockholm a wander through the "Gamla Stan" [old town] for a sandwich. Dublin I don't know, but it's a history rich town, founded by the Vikings too I believe.

Ed, along the same lines as the Viking ship in Oslo that Paul just mentioned, there's the Vasa Warship museum in Stockholm. The Vasa was re-floated in 1961 and centuries after it capsized on its maiden voyage in the Stockholm harbor in 1628, and due to its top-heavy redesign mid-build which added another whole deck of cannons way above its waterline.
(...Thanassis and I had a fascinating time while there back in 2009, and when we did that almost two month ride through Europe)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Jameson Distillery tour, or Guinness warehouse although a bit touristy. I pick these two over shopping with the wife, although if kids/grandkids are along the Zoo is good. other than that I just walk about pub to pub

So, when will you be in Stockholm? Would be great to meet up if possible.

So far my opinion has been borne out. With no music distribution deal in Europe until a month ago Jason is largely unknown and the audiences in Oslo and Stockholm combined are far, far smaller than our usual tens of thousands. Sold two million tickets stateside last year, I'd bet this "Country2Country Festival" show sold 4000 both cities combined. Very appreciative but diminutive audiences. Still a pretty good adventure so far. One more day off in Stockholm and then we head to Dublin and London where ticket sales are much better.

The largest attendance was the O2 arena in London to an appreciative audience, I'd hazard a guess that goes north of 10K not unlike our stateside arena shows; I wonder how the BBC simulcast was received? Stockholm and Dublin tied for best cities to walk about but Stockholm wins hands down for a generous and welcoming public. Visiting London? Meh. Only the foreigners working service jobs were polite, the stagehands were surley and mocking (not unlike NJ) and the building staff obviously didn't want the show. So much history there to soak up but I'm not certain I ever want to return.
