Ok all you northerners, you've had a stranglehold on what used to be the "Midwest Rally" for too long now, so this year it's moving down river to Hannibal MO. Dates are merely tentative at this point, but maybe June 18-21 will work out? Post some feedback in this thread and let's get a plan together! Hopefully some of the guys from the lower midwest states can come to the rally at a more central location. I'm looking into lodging, something like the lodge in Westby. When I get a few warm weekend days I'm going to ride up to Hannibal and do some route recon and check out local lodging options. here is the official rally facebook page http://www.facebook.com/groups/137335986294572/

I'll post all info in this thread as it comes. Here is a link to a lodge that I found, need to get rate quotes and investigate other options still http://www.kinderhooklodge.com/buckridge/

yeah, but it's north of here and I always ride south or west so it's mostly virgin territory for me even though my bike has been through Hannibal several times

Don't say virgin in Yota's presence, he'll get too excited and it's a few months out. That lodge looks pretty nice.

those dates look okay to me. I used to work a little north of there in the Keokuk/Ft Madison area. there are some good roads along the river in the 'florida tip' of Iowa. and at least 1 brewpub that I know of

It's on the calendar. We shall see if I can make that. Will you forgive me if I skip to save coin for my Bonneville trip?

Sure, I ride those roads all the time. The circle from Ft. Madison through Keokuk through Hamilton through Nauvoo is mostly along the river and really nice. But, the southernmost part is almost an hour (OK, 35 minutes if you're riding with Dave and Chris)away from Hannibal. My posse is still planning on a Canada ride starting on June 6, so it would be hard to not work TWO WEEKS in a row to do this rally. But, Canada might not happen. Hey Dave, let me know when you are going to scout out the ride and I'll ride down to Hannibal to ride with ya. I KNOW you still have my phone number!

It's on the calendar! Thanks so much to Dave for taking over "rally master" duties this year. I'm sure we'll have the usual amount of debauchery!

If I come to this I might trailer the bike. As you know it can get a little warm in June in the midwest.

S'alright.. we'll let you slide this time what with the crash and all, we know you're usually hardcore.
Been thinking about one of those trailer things myself lately.

by 'trailer the bike' you mean pull a trailer behind the bike, right? And the reason you are doing this is for the cooler with cold beer to offset the warm June weather, right? It makes sense that way

I know it's a long way off but I talked to the lodge today and they are almost completely booked for the year so I need to them a deposit soon if that's where rally central will be. Any chance I can get a head count?

Wow! That's tight! I'm gonna say to put me down for my wife and I. It is the weekend AFTER I might get back from Canada, but THAT adventure isn't written in stone yet. ORIGINALLY, four or five fella's from within my family were gonna go on that ride, but all but two have already dropped out. So the Midwest rally is more likely for me now. And thanks, Dave, for taking this on.

Alright, I'm going to call them tomorrow and put down a deposit for the weekend of June 18-21. If we get at least 15 people, the cost will be right around 100 bucks per for the whole weekend, less if more come.

Put me and Stephen down. We're still trying to talk Donny in to it. I think he's going to Sturgis in Aug.

I have a fire fighter rally in Russelville, AR that weekend. No way I can make both. Unless I get my cloning project perfected by then.

I'll be there, of course! Looking forward to doing some road searches with you, Dave, when it gets warmer.
I think this location is awesome. Could bring some northerners and southerners together that might not normally get a chance to meet. In YODA's case...meat.
See you all at the GRRR!!!

Justin, I'm finally gettin hitched (again) on May 15th & we're riding (2up) on the 17th to the Black Hills for our honeymoon & plan to swing down to Evergreen, CO to hang out for a coulple of days with Christel"s Sis & her husband & be back in town on/about 5/29. I wont be able to take any more PTO until July 1st tho & don't know if my Bride can get the time off yet either (& yes she really wants to go too )...so here's my plan....Gonna head out from work on 6/19 around noonish & head to Hannibal. My route will be East on MO210 to MO13 north then E on MO36 then I72 E into Hanibal.....or the shortest route to the lodge. It would be great to ride ride there with you Bro if we can work out the logistics. If (Christel) & I can play hookie from the work thing on that Thursday & Friday i'll let you know.

If everyone could let me know if you plan on coming solo or with a +1 that would be most helpful

If anyone wants to book a room separately from the lodge, there are other rooms in other buildings at the same location. Chances are looking good that the lodge I have booked will be full, especially if some of you guys are going to be bringing your wives. If you want a bit more privacy at night, here's a link to the Homestead Lodge, with rooms that are currently available http://www.kinderhooklodge.com/homestead/
