I worked out a trade this weekend, via email, with the local Triumph dealer to take the very lightly used 2012 speedmaster for 2014 thruxton (and a little cash). I will have to close the deal in person later this week. I have been wanting another café bike for some time now and this looks to be fun. plus it will be interesting to see what I can ring out of a 865-360 EFI motor.
05 speedmaster - 1100cc, 11:1 racing pistons, Carillo rods, thunderbike cams, ported and polished head, 2mm over intake and exhaust valves, Barnett kevlar clutch, scepter pipes, oversize manifolds, 45mm HSR's, TTP stage 4 firestarter

I picked it up the other day. Still a bit wintery here. this it the 'before' picture. I have some fun stuff planned for this ride. hard to tell from the picture but it is metallic black with gold stripping down the middle.

The engine upgrades will likely wait a bit. A diet is first in order. The goal is for the bike to loose a 100 pounds.
I am attempting to loose some as well but expect greater success with the bike.

only if it quits snowing by then! for now it is trapped in the shop with at least 3 feet of snow drifted against the door. Thoughts of putting spikes on it and going out on the ice have be dancing thru my head.

Just wondering if there had been any updates. I am thinking down the road about a cafe type bike, and wanted to see where you went with this one.
Keep us posted.

Last Thursday the weather was finally good enough to take her out for a first ride. There is still some ice and lots of salt and sand, so I couldn't go crazy, but after 3 rides and about 200 miles. I really like this bike, very fun. It has been around 20 years since I sold my last cafe bike (CB550K). The bike turns in and handles nicely. I'm Surprised at how snappy the motor is. EFI is great. So far I have a growing list of mods I want to make and a pile of sketches. I made a gas cap and a oil filler cap already. A new instrument plate to relocate the key will be next.

I managed to get a few items ginned up and onto the bike over the last few weeks while weather was bad again. my homemade fender removal, not shown is a 'cats eye' LED tail light. tail light mount and license plate holder gas cap relocated the key

yes I am, but not right away. I am still sorting thru how big to go and what CR. Plus all the cam and head combinations. There will be something interesting done.

the progress so far, more weight gone. airbox removed, 2-1 exhaust, upgraded suspension, TTP tune. and it just gets more fun to ride.
