I hate having to make this post, but I'm bailing out this year. No pun intended. I'm injured again, and it's just not a good idea, rain or shine.

I hurt, and I'm going to do what I have to do to get this fixed. Right calf began with a pinch, which turned into a dull cramp last week, but it ain't go in' away, and hurts like hades. I know it's a pinched nerve in my back - same thing I dealt with last summer, with the other leg.

I don't relish another surgery, but if that's what I need to stop this pain it won't come soon enough.

I saw my neurologist Friday, told him pain level 3-4. He checked me out and said he could find no good reason to restrict me or medicate for it. I went to Austin to attend a wedding this weekend, and could never get comfortable in the car. I'd call the pain level now a 7 or better.

I was excited and determined Friday to make this trip after what's the doc said, but it's obvious now I'd be miserable off the bike. I can hardly walk, and can't sleep. I got up this morning and cancelled my room reservations in Birmingham and Dahlonega.

Seeing the doc again this afternoon, and I want imaging scheduled. I'm on 2 weeks vacation, and I want to make some quick progress with this.

Maybe I can make Prescott this summer.

I've been dragging my feet a bit on deciding our plan.

As of now I'm planning to meet y'all in Birmingham Wednesday and either ride back with you Thursday, or take a detour by my house first. Dani will meet us in Dahlonega Thursday evening for Friday and Saturday rides (probably not on her bike though).

Chy, do you have a general idea what route you'll take back from Birmingham on Thursday? Gadsden to Rome to Cartersville and across?

Any thoughts on the Friday and Saturday rides? Weather looks not awesome as of now ...

Well dang.. sorry to hear about your troubles Keith. Hopefully you'll get it sorted out and back on your feet.

Jake, No routes planned for the return trip from Bham yet.. will likely sit down with Moe tonight to figure that one out. We'll play the weather by ear as always but for now we'll plan Hiawassee on Friday and likely a run to Richard Russell and Helen area on Saturday.

0900 Friday morning destination Hiawassee. Saturday morning destination unknown 0900... general meandering easily altered by predicted scattered thunder showers.

Best views round here...
Today we ran 197 up to Popcorn Gap then back down 17 and ate at the Country Cafe in Helen. Then we rode back up to 75 alt and took Richard Russell over to 19 and came down Blood Mountain back to town. Light traffic so we got to blow out some cobwebs... it totally rocked.

Richard Russel's sorta like a mini Cherohala. Nice views. Rode up to Blairsville from Dahlonega Thursday, gorgeous weather and scenery. Weather seems to be cooperating this time. Will try to get hooked up in the A.M. at the pole barn.

Friday was a great day seeing old friends/BA.com family again & met some new friends. Greg & I left Twowheels of suches at 0900 Sat, went north on 60 to Tenn 64/74 and headed west to Cleveland, Tn then slabed it up 75. We had solid rain all the way to lexington ky. Even with all the rain we made it back to Indy in 12 hours. I promise not to wait another 4 years, i already have the calendar marked for 2016. Thanks Di & Chy

Back home, what a wonderful time we had in Alabama and Georgia. The weather was perfect during the Rally. As always thanks to Chy and Diane for putting up with us rebel rousers again this year.

It was nice to see everyone who made the journey, old friends , new friends and the "core" group > family!
Until the next time, ride long, ride strong.

Back home too. It was great to see everyone again; also good to meet Funkletrumpet for the first time. Chy and Di, very big thank you for hosting us again this year and going above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome. I look forward to the Georgia Rally every year, but really needed it this year. Big thanks to everyone who made it this year; this is a special group of people. Friday was one of the best rally rides I've ever been on.

Everybody take care of yourselves and ride safe,

Life is a conspiracy! My plans to go this year were thwarted by a bump on the head and a bug picked up in the ER. I kept up with some things with Ady who gave me reports of his travel via phone. Sorry, I was looking forward to this one. I just need to quit working two full time jobs so I can play more.

Man, what a good rally! I needed that one. The rides were great and the downtime better, the weather cooperated quite nicely.... maybe not for those who rolled out on Sunday as it did rain profusely.
All the chillins checked in and all are home safe so we put another one to bed.

This year we had a good amount of time just to visit and talk.. exchange some lies and talk about lifes journey. We had an unexpected visitor from across the pond and got to see lots of cool sickles on our semi-epic road trip. Good people.. good fun..

Thanks to everyone who took the time to come hang out with us and special thanks to Fast Eddy for his generous contribution to the weenie/marshmallow roast fund.. it was very tasty.. sorry you missed it brother.

Already looking forward to next year..
