are they needed?


02 america,158 main,pods,homemade exhaust,sissy bar,box section high rise bars ... if it doesn,t need to be on there , throw it at an annoying neighbour lol

very very badly do you need them. check the tech vault. the Honda ones for the dohc and the sohc hondas fit and are cheaper.

Make sure the studs are fully wound in and use a inch pound torque wrench for the best results.

^^ very good advice, most people figure the tighter the better (I used to)but these leak pretty bad when you squish them to much.

I have also had good luck in the copper goo on other bikes that wont seal. technically 500 degrees or so above the max temp of the goo but it seems to do ok. (that's last resort stuff)

The copper ring does not crush 100% when you follow and do not exceed the spec ed out torque value and that means you can come apart, go back together, re torque the same inch pounds and theoretically still get a proper seal the second time. Load it up overtight, then go get a tube of copper silicone seal.

Had my headers off twice , same gaskets still in there and no leaks, no TQ wrench either.

haha ive also got 2 - 3 removals on a set when I was doing my stainless pipes, and this was after I learned the impact was no way to put them on! haha

(really small one that kind of abused the name "impact")
