I keep hearing that and my dyno numbers didn't change after removal.

I,ve spent hours reading about this subject , both here and that other site(where loading a bike up to resemble a caravan is the norm lol) ,,,, what i seem to have worked out is some say it will effect low and mid range ,others say that the tube is to far away from the motor to make a difference and others say if you have free flowing exhausts the only thing it will change is the sound .... seat of the pants riding it like you stole it thoughts would be appericated

I think if you have an exhaust with some restriction then it does make a difference giving the exhaust gases an extra route to escape. Performance exhausts like on the state police cars I work on have them but they are restrictive.

I split the difference and tack welded a slightly reamed out washer in. So speaking arbitrarily, I feel strongly both ways.

well i,ve welded it back up , put back on bike and gone for a 200km ride thru some hilly back country roads .... the sound has more of a bark to it and from a seat of the pants point of view i can see no difference in low or mid range, am running a 16 tooth front thou ......

02 america,158 main, pods, homemade exhaust, sissy bar,box section high rise bars ... if it doesn,t need to be on there , throw it at an annoying neighbour lol

I cut my crossover off and welded freeze out plugs in the openings.
