Since I am going back home in February (I know, what am I thinking!) for a month long vacation, I decided to immerse myself with ... Canadian culture! (it's been a while since I've been home). Found some good (but old) stuff. First and foremost... a Canadian beer song! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2E064kb3UnU

And I was laughing at this Canadian police car chase! It's been a long time since I've seen snow... it will be strange! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0id9fUYb95A

I can't wait to see family and friends.
But the cold might affect me more than ever. Been living right smack on the tropic of Cancer for so long ... I lost my thick skin!
And since I took out my Xmas decorations today, let me be the first to wish you all a great holiday time with your loved ones.

May you and your's have a great holiday, best wishes. And thanks for the early present (post).

Christ, you picked about the coldest month to go back. Yes, what are you thinking? I've been away better than 30 years living in Florida now and I sure don't miss it or the snow. Montreal was my home town. I did stop in this past September and did enjoy the beer, food and family almost in that order LOL.

like my brother in law who lived in Singpore for many years said "you can dress for the winter cold you can't dress for the dryness of the air". He walked around with a bottle of hand lotion in his coat pocket and often disappeared into a john to rub some on.

Mike, John, eh! I am from Montreal.
I went back 8 years ago during winter, and I have to agree. You can dress for the cold, but the dryness of the air is really hard on the lungs, and skin, after living for so long in the tropics.
The weather dropped to 17C here today. I'm freezing. I have long pants, wool socks, a big sweater and a hat!
But I will be strong! Ha ha.
I hope I can ski a bit when I get back home. I was a ski instructor for 17 years, and I miss the feeling of my boards on the snow. But I don't miss having to dress up to handle the cold winter air!

The main reason for going back is to spend time with family and friends. Of course... Eating and drinking will be predominant as well!
I like to go in summer, as we have lots more activities, like the Jazz Festival, but we got a deal on plane tickets we just couldn't pass. We are saving $800 a ticket!
So, February it will be!
