Hello folks, I'm a noob here but thought I would toss this out for the hive. I've noticed a few posts re: placing a speedo in the dash, an idea I rather like actually.
However, there is another route some might consider. These places both sell headlights with openings for a speedo.
Benjiescaferacer.com
and
CB750.com
The first offers a fiberglass shell advertised as taking a Hinckley Bonneville speedo and a 7" lamp. Pretty straight forward conversion.
The second has a complete headlight with lamp set up to take a 2.5" speedo. I'm not sure what size speedo the America and Speedmaster are running, but if it is a 2.5", this might also be an interesting alternative, as you wouldn't have to switch over to an electronic speedo as the dash conversions require.
Hope that might help someone!

Yup, no kidding. Say Lance, have you had any dealings with the Triumph shop in Issaquah?

The speedo in the headflight has been done by a member, forgot who, I seem to remember he used a old BMW headlight bucket. Looked great.

I bought both of my Triumphs there (a 2009 America which I sold - wish I hadn't - it was a great bike), and now my 2013 Speedmaster. If you are thinking of buying, they are a pretty good dealer to work with in my opinion.

Yes, they are on my short list for a new America. There is a dealer close by in Kennewick, but they have such aggressive salesmen I was turned off to the idea of buying from them. In a one week period they called me five times about a Commander that I stopped by to look at....even after I told them it didn't fit me well!

The salesmen that I have dealt with at I-90 are all pretty laid back guys. I bought both of my bikes from Don Shields there, who is a great guy. I also know Kerry who works in sales there, who is good as well.

I love the bike dertbikedennis has. That headlight is awesome.
the aside about dealers...From Kennewick, you could come to Portland, and go to Cascade Moto Classics, well technically Beaverton. Super duper easy to work with.
