Interesting for sure...but others have brought their wives once and that was it...they only needed to come once. Others get their own bikes and come every year! Time will tell what the outcome is for you!

I've been spoiled Liane, many years the Raid overlaps my birthday, but not this coming year. Guess I'll deal with it

Not sure I can make it... such a long ride. Well, maybe if I don't go by way of Salmo. That would make it shorter.

Mike, I received yours. Waiting on payment.

Not sure why you and Marty are having issues.

I'm sorry, I'll miss you all this year. I had to make a choice, and I'm leaving for Born Free tomorrow morning. I'm meeting my Dad. Down to SoCal and back up the Coast. I'll keep you updated.

I thought Id post our route this year for anyone interested....

Rick & Toni (my friends on the yellow wing), Karen and I will be departing Tuesday July 14 from Issaquah Wa.
We will do some slab up 405/5 and turn off onto WA9 at about Arlington, then head up through Canada and on to Kelowna via BC11, BC7, BC5 and BC97 where we still stay the night in West Kelowna because the main town is sold out. Heck... by now West Kelowna may be sold out as well.
Google map stage 1 (328 miles, 6+ hours)

On Wed we will continue our Canadian tour and head out on BC97 to BC6 into Nelson for a cold beer (and a scotch of course) accompanied with a beef dip at the Uptown Sportsbar.
Google map stage 2 (252 miles, 5+ hours)

See you all there... (except for Brent)

There are a couple. I've been watching the one that is 4 km north of the Kootenay Lake that is visible from town. So far no evacuations and the fire is being held on the retardant lines.

I'll be in Nelson Monday - taking an awful long scenic route to include visits in the south okanagan! I'll post on the facebook group how it's looking. If someone here that is there can post an update here for those not on facebook, that would be helpful.

Someone also may need to remind me to post an update! haha!

No way I'm riding up there in this heat. You know what I know. Homes in the evacuation area are being rained upon by hot embers. Deck, roofs, and such are receiving burns. Owners are on alert with water hoses and buckets. We are supposed to see a drop in temps by as much as 10 Celsius over the next few days which would help but I ain't holding my breath. Rain is no longer a reality around here. Meanwhile Ecuador was 24 C today with a 60% chance of rain. Anyone want to buy a house in the Kootenays?

The BC Wildfire website updates a few times a day and I am watching it closely. For the fire near Nelson to actually hit the townsite, it would have to climb over some very large hills and hop a giant lake.

No one is being evacuated at this time. They are under alert and they are in the area between Sitkum Creek South and Willow Point (six mile road). That is on the 3A heading towards the ferry. At this time, that road is still open.

I have spoken directly with the hotel about this and it's a little smoky depending on the wind but everything is fine in Nelson.

IF there is an actual evacuation of that area, you simply take the Salmo pass out of Nelson instead. That area is not affected at all.

Just got a message from a fellow Triumph rider directly in Nelson today stating that it's all good, the fire is well back from the 3A and traffic is flowing nicely. The firefighters are all working round the clock with water bombers and everything and doing well.

So no panic in Nelson.

Yup, Nelson's good and no road closures anywhere. Mike, just ride on in anyway you like and you'll be fine. And it really does look like temps will drop some just in time for the Raid. Thank gawd for that... today it was almost 40C here in the Kootenays. If there was a way to install air conditioning on a bike I'd have done it by now. Forecasts for the weekend of the Raid call for temps hovering around the 30 mark.

30?? Well then we are all good, will be the exact same as what we are getting in Alberta...a mild 33 today.

Will miss you this year Keith.

See the rest of you coming out next week! I'll remember to get some flats of water on ice at registration for your arrival.
