Well, riding season is almost over here. Did not ride nearly as much as I wanted to. So I think about the things I'd like to do or get done to my 2009 America between now and April.
I wanted to post some of my ideas and ask for any comments, wisdom, commentary, so forth. Please do not hold back.
Speedmaster front fender. I notice the fender bracket part number (#1394996) is the same for the America and Speedmaster, but I really prefer the look of the smaller Speedmaster fender. I wanna get a Speedmaster fender up front, and may as wll do the front brakes while I am there, and take off the lower shrouds, put on frork gaiters (#A9638018). Thinking about what else I can or should do w/ the front wheel off, as in (preventative) maintenance.
I have wanted a center stand since I got the bike. It is time. Any other suggested other things to do while down there?
I think I am going w/ the Nology Silver Spark Plugs. Anyone tried or heard anything about them? All I recall hearing about expensive plugs and wires is that they make no to barely perceptible differnce. For 15$ extra a pair, I figure why not. Ditto the Nology Hotwires.
It is time for a K&N air filter too.
FWIW, I have the TORs, and snorkel removed, and have a pronounced pop on deceleration.
I have not seen anyone mention the Spiegler stainless steel brake lines on here. My concern is the the finish and how it deals the other parts it may rub up against. Anyone have any experience w/ the Spiglers?
Any of course, wrap the exhaust headers.
My OEM headlight blows. Maybe they get weaker over time. Time for a PIAA H4 60/55W SUPER PLASMA.
All of this on a 2009 America w/ only 16,000 miles.
Considering the Nology Profire High Performance Ignition Coils (152001060T).
After all that, I think I will get the 18,000 mile service done in March or April, and start _finally_ getting serious about TuneECU and Progreessive 444 shocks (444-4214B, black).

Something to consider about the Speedmaster fender, it has a hole in the center about 2/3 back for a brake line clamp. Speaking of brakes, I upgraded to a 3 piston Nissan front caliper and floating rotor and am very happy with the setup. I have had the Spiegler brake lines for years. No issues, although the chrome is kind of flaking on the banjo fitting. I have been running Nology coils and HotWires with iridium plugs for 30,000 miles or so, never had an issue with any component and it never seemed to bother my stock ignitor. I could swear that it ran smoother when I changed to it, but maybe that was in my head. Again, over 30thousand miles ago... Progressive shocks are a great improvement over stock, I'm not familiar with the 444, but I had 412's on mine and now have 440's. Do the front also if you haven't already. If you want to be rid of the pop on deceleration, unplug your TPS wire. Plenty of guys here run aftermarket carbs without the TPS, don't think that you will do any damage by eliminating it. I unplugged mine and the pop was gone instantly.

Hmmm I am looking at the diagram on Bike Bandit, it shows the Speedmaster has 2 holes in it, like you mentioned. What are they for? Weird. When you say do the front also, you mean change the fron fork springs? If so, suggestions? http://www.bikebandit.com/oem-parts/2009-triumph-speedmaster/o/m147296#sch631517

2 holes in the fender, for the brake crossover line from one caliper to the other. Speedy has twin front brakes. You can get Progressive fork springs from fasteddysports.com

Imho, as far as the headlight goes... skip PIAA altogether and go LED. A thread here was the deal breaker for me... I've been running PIAA for a while now but fully intend to go LED for both my headlight and driving lights asap.
Live to love, love to live.

Upgrade of suspension is a must, front and rear, big difference. Had electronics go south starting with rectifier/regulator, replaced coils and ECU and it is running better then it ever has...

Like Keith said, LED is the way to go for headlight. Only thing better is a projector light setup, which is real pricey.
