We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

It's the price of cool man.
Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

Wow, I had no idea those bikes were so difficult to maintain. I've been lusting after one but may reconsider... especially after being spoiled by my TBA when it comes to doing routine maintenance.
Live to love, love to live.

British engineering at it's finest.Good to see the traditions continue. Like where they put the oil filter on our bikes. I heard the old Mk11 Jaguar although very cool looking IMO,was a PITA to work on. My friend has a speed triple and to me it looks like it was leaving the factory and someone said "Hell,we forgot the lights! stick a couple on the front quick!" Those bikes FLY though!

A friend with two left thumbs has one now I understand why he takes it to others for almost everything (gas and air excepted)
I tried the BMW F700GS lately but after riding in the relaxed leg position of my Speedie I could not handle the ergonomics.

That's really nuts! I'd be mad about that kind of poor planning.

This is going to go like the 4 Yorkshiremen.
I had it much worse. The wife had a Suzuki savage that to work on required removing the gas tank (not unusual for a bike) to remove the tank though the petcock has to come off. And it is a vacuum petcock so you can't just drain the tank thru it, as with out engine vacuum is closes(safety feature). No way to not get gas all over. What a pita

Yep Larry. All the first generation "T300 series" Hinckley Triumphs had a steel backbone stressed member frame which ran too close to the back of the air cleaner assembly and thus required the removal or at least the loosening the carbs in order to change the air filter, AND a starter mechanism placed inside the lower cases which requires a complete removal of the entire engine from the frame and a disassembly of the lower cases in the event of a failed sprag clutch, AND the very reason why my nineteen ninety five Sprint has been sitting idle in my garage for about five years now.
(...and so, whatever you do, do NOT attempt to start your Adventurer with a weak battery, as this will prematurely wear down the "dogs" on your srag clutch)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I finally got it back together and took it for a test ride. Like an idiot I forgot to put the radiator cap all the way on (Not used to that on a bike ) so I blew coolant and steam on the return home. Ran like a scalded cat though. The tank is back off until I pick up some more antifreeze.

What? A bike with a radiator? and... coolant? with caps? and antifreeze? Next your going to tell me there is a catalytic converter installed. What is this world coming to?
