Just wondering how good these are performance wise, I picked up 8 new 54mm ones at a garage sale this weekend for 15 bucks. I figure I could change them every 6 months and still come ahead if these things are any good. Thanks

should be no issue with them, make sure you are re-jetted for them though if you have not already, and if you have not opened up the tail end of your bike you should look at that as well if not already done.

I've used EMGO filters for years on my old Triumphs. Paper elements, not pods. I think the quality is a little cheaper than the K&N, but with regular changing/maintenence, I suppose they're perfectly suitable.

Using the emgo pods I was able to make my own freak, airbox removal and keep my side panel for less than 50 bucks. This included all metal and jets. That was half what K&N filters were. After, I had been running the emgo's for a while I purchased the K&N filters and could not tell any difference and jetting seemed spot on. Sold the K&N to buddy

Thanks guys. Osobad you answered my next question about jetting, looks like I can use the jetting calculator using the K&N pods and get close.

For exhaust I'm currently using gutted stock pipes with 4" baffles up front to build some back pressure. I was thinking 153 mains to start with but need to educate myself as how to determine what pilot jet and shims are needed.
