I've checked my manual and the triumph parts guide but cant seem to locate what it is. I imagine its got something to do with the oil pressure signal?

ps: bike is sold and Im selling a stack of stuff inc cocktail shaker exhaust so check the classifieds.

pps: Hope I dont get in trouble for plugging another post?

They do that sometimes. The cover houses the alternator and pick up coil for the ignition system so those are the seals that work in conjunction with the gasket to keep the crankcase oil in the engine and are part of the wiring harness that runs through them..
You'll need another gasket then thoroughly clean and reseal those pass thrus with good silicone sealer.

Ahhh, the good ole days have returned, with Triumphs leaking a little oil. Ok, in the past, maybe a LOT OF oil! And another post on here talks about electrical problems. I LOVE nostalgia!

The dumbass factory prolly didn't use any sealer in the groove where the ignition sensor grommet fits into.

Mine does that. Can see the oil weep but no drops on the ground, only tacky film from the oil. Did a short term patch, figured I would pull that cover off at some time and correctly seal it. I pulled the wire out of the keeper and used 2 zip ties. One on the boot and the other lower to keep it bundled with the other wire. Lets the rubber boot bend more to its shape rather than being pulled almost straight.

Plan on using a new gasket. If you aren't going to do that, then I suggest that you let it alone.

It certainly isn't going to leak any more with a small quantity of good quality RTV in the grommet seal groove than what it already does now.

Don't get so excited... You can have a heart attack with the getting ya blood pressure up like that. Take some deep breaths and calm down.....gruesfraba.....gruesfraba.

Sealed all the Rt side covers I've removed, just fine. I still put the gaskets on dry one side, light smear of anti-seize on the outboard. But that rubber plug gets some silicone.

I use a little Ultra Black and had no leaks. I put Wendys stator cover on with no gasket and just the Ultra Black and it hasn't leaked.

Triumph does an excellent job of case/cover match machining, nothing like the old days. I always go over the the mating surfaces lightly with a fine stone in case there is a high spot or flaw I can't see and have never found a surface flaw yet. Kudos to Bloor on that aspect.
