On the bike of course, How do you get the mounting bracket off the stock CDI and mount it onto the Pro Com? Thanks for any help!

You're going to need the mounting plate off the back of the stock unit. I believe I just drilled out the tabs that fastened the old cdi to the bracket.

I just popped out the plastic rivets and used medium sized zip ties to hold the unit to the bracket. Easier to change out since I alternate between the stock CDI and the ProCom so much.

Wade, why do you swap between procom and stock?

becaaaause, she was runnin crappy with stock, got a ProCom, thought that would fix it. Nope. Put stock back on, ran OK 4 a bit, then crappy again. Put ProCom back on, found sweet spot #6, runs good now. I 'spect coil gremlins.

Both my coils failed the resistance test outlined in Haynes manual. Suppose to be 6 ohms, showed no resistance at all, on both coils. Not sure what all this means, My part number said to select 4 for the procom. You think 6 is better for yours? What year? Mods? Mine is minimally modified with Uni filter, trimmed snorkel, Thunderbike pipes, small increase with jets.
Have two new coils on the way, don't want to even try it for fear of messing new CDI with bad coil.

it's an '04, very slightly modded, chart says #8, but it likes 6. You can change the settings from under the tank, no need to take it off. That baby screwdriver and a light will work, just don't have it running when you change it.

Pulling very strong, ProCom at 4, new coils and plugs, actually felt front wheel get a little light! Never happened before and didn't know it was running so poorly for so long.

I am having issues now, so im dredging this thread an possibly another out. BTW I read on RAT.net about not forgetting to check the pick up coil. It can have adverse effects if all other parts in the system are good and you forgot to check that.

Could you be more specific on what issues you are having? For example, are you only running on one cylinder? Do you have an intermittent loss of one cylinder? Are you having problems with hard starts? The more specific that you can be with your symptons the better your odds of getting it sorted out.

Under the gas tank on the left side of the back bone. Tank has to come off to access it.
